Has anyone successfully used this combo? According to the NV page they have tested with the Infinity. I've scouted around and not seen confirmation on this.

Thanks

Looks to me like at least one or two of the SATA ports will be blocked by the GX2.

I'm using the 7950 GX2 with the LanParty UT Expert SLI-DR with no problems. I also believe JakUP has the LanParty running with dual 7950's in Quad.

Mine's not the expert but I'm hoping it will still work.

If it's this one:

One bank of SATA ports will be blocked by the GX2.

I think I can live without a couple SATA ports. Thanks

Yep happens with 7900gtx and 7800gtx 512mb too...

But not the primary nForce ports... just the Silicon Image ports. It's not that bad.

Bad for me though because, I don't have access to two of Disk Dirves now that I have 7900gtx's :(

I think the exper board has no issues with blocked ports though...

Do you have 8 SATA devices?

9 actually... I am also pissed that the new mobos coming out only have 1 IDE channel, which will force me to convert or sell off my extra IDE drives.

J-Mag no offense but it's almost comforting to see that I'm not the only one who has been inconvenienced by the size of the GX2 and the fact that so many motherboards seem to have SATA ports in spots that conflict with these newer cards.

One more quick note, why the cmos is in a bad spot, the A8N32 does't have SATA ports in the way at all, those were at least placed nicely. Plus the board has a rear SATA port for more conveinence.

Heh, no worries, misery loves company :D

I got a DFI expert the other day though, so maybe that solves the problem... Anyone used their Expert and all four nvidia SATA ports with their 7900gtx or 7950? I know the Silicon Image ones are far enough away, but not so sure the the Nvidia.

If you look at pics of the new DFI Conroe and AM2 boards you will see that they used parallel SATA ports to solve that issue.
