Anyone run into a case where XP would NOT accept new video drivers? I had to reinstall due to network problems (my machine decided to completely forget how to do networking), but on reinstall, the video drivers come up with the default vgasave driver, nothing marked in hardware list for display, no monitor drivers and installing the detonator drivers ignored them....

I swapped out the geforce4-4200 for an older Voodoo3, but it still doesn't change drivers or even care that I swapped cards (no new hardware detected). Am I blind? Am I missing something...

sounds like something is seriously messed up in the registry... when in doubt, format and reinstall everything fresh :(

Are you sure you completely uninstalled the old detonators?

yeah, fraid so... no video drivers installed... the system default "vgasave" is there, but even it is not in the device manager, only when you check via display properties.

I am debating on the reformat bit... *sigh*
