View Full Version : Booting from NV SATA RAID with PATA drive connected

Hello, folks =)

Problem description
I have recently upgraded my bios on my motherboard (see specs below) to the newest version. My SATA RAID is working fine, but the moment I connect my PATA disk, I get an error from windows, saying that it cannot read from the boot disk. It's not the normal "BOOTMGR missing" or "NTLDR missing". If I unplug the PATA drive, everything works fine.

Relevant specifications
Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4 Diamond /w Bios: 1.0A
SATA disks: Raptor 34.7 gb
PATA disk: Maxtor 160 gb

Are there any 'hidden' features on my motherboard? If so, how do I unlock it?

I'm suspecting that I need to specify that the motherboard should use SATA and PATA combined, any ideas?

Have you checked the boot order in the bios? I think a PATA disk will place itself on top of the list if connected...

Simply raise the RAID array on top of the boot order list.
