Microsoft denies price cut rumors, but...

This week, everywhere I went I saw the Xbox 360 core at 250-270€ and the premium at 350-370€.

Prices for the games and accessories didn't change but there was already a price cut on certain accessories (HD, mem cards) early this spring. Summer is a "slow" season, but I don't think in autumn the prices will rise again.

Nor I think retailers are selling the console at loss,; these price reductions must have been agreed with the local branch of Microsoft sales division.

I'm interested to know if other people both in the EU and in the US are seeing a similar pricing scheme.

Well here in the US we are, but that's because of the Independance Day weekend. I see a lot of "360 for $360" deals every now and then.

M$ can deny anything, but why should anyone announce price drop 6 months in advance where there is no competition (I know PS2 is selling well ;-))? I'm almost sure M$ will cut prices for Xbox 360 by the end of this year or at the begining of 2007, but announcement will occur about month or few weeks beforce the cut.

Today I've also seen the second boxed bundle, after the Moto GP06 limited edition Xbox: it's a Core + Fifa 06 at 299€ in a white box with Fifa logo on it.

Mybe M$ is trying to win Europe with competititve prices in this area (don't forget Japan: the xbox 360 has always been the equivalent of 350$ and there's only one SKU). Many analysts think the Xbox360 will win the console war in the north american market so it'a likely that Microsoft won't push any price cut in that area (once in a while US gamers get raped :D).

I am so tempted to get a 360 I can almost smell it. My PC is so unstable at the moment I am about to give up.

Well it really wouldn't make sense since technically the PS3 is cheaper in the US than it is in Europe, so if anyone should get the price cut it should be the US.
