wow, thats a big admition of suckiness.
check the front page.
Edited by MikeC: Note that the news post was removed as we are awating confirmation from NVIDIA on the subject.
Here's what was posted.
"It appears that GeForceFX 5800 Ultra has been canned by NVIDIA and will not make it to the retail market, HardOCP reports. Those of you who pre-ordered the card will get them. You will still be able to pick up the Non-Ultra version from the shelves.
So what about Gainward PR's? I'm completely confused here, since they recently had a chit-chat with GeForce Zone.
Note that we are not sure if this is exactly what NVIDIA will do, so bare with us until we get more information.
On the other side, if you visit ASUS video card section, they are listing the ASUS V9900. You cannot tell which version they are advertising."
End of post.

let's just wait a "little" bit longer ...
you have got to be ****ing kidding me. i waited FOREVER for this ****ing slow ass card to be released... now they completley eliminate it... good going nvidia. your gonna piss off half of your customers if this turns out to be true
first they hype up a non existing card
then release a card that does not even live up to hype
then they scrap it!!!! lmao nice strategy nvidia

well, I guess I will call purchasing at my office on monday and find out if they pre-ordered it or were waiting for stock... if the latter, I guess I am out of luck.... unless I want to fork over the money for a QuadroFx... hmmm... well... it is not REALLY my money... hmmm.... :angel2:
Finally Nvidia realised that the FX Flow would be annoying even to the enthusiasts.
Frankly, I can't see how a hardcore gamer could put up with a vacuum machine while playing games.
Adam
so will the non-ultra version be readily available, and will it be a QUIET card instead?
ya and it will be even suckier than the geforcefx:angel2:
Yes, I'm almost positive it will not use the same cooling solution.
$300 is not a bargain, but some people might consider getting it. NVIDIA should have done that 2 months ago without feeding to us the marketing bs.

This is so sad it is almost funny. Unless this was all part of some big plot to make it look like they were really falling far behind ATI only to pull out the nv35 or some such thing and stomp all over the 9700Pro next month, this is really weird. As I have remarked before, what the hell are they thinking?
hehe i kinda find if funny that they thought this card would demolish the radeon:rolleyes:

It was the smart thing for nVidia to do, assuming that this news is bona-fide.
The delays, the lack of a DX9 driver set with polish, and the incredibly limited set of reviews all hinted at this being the eventual outcome.
If the reviewers and response had been positive, I'm sure that there would have been a general release-to-market. Since the reviews and fan response was overwhelmingly negative, nVidia and its OEM's decided to cut their losses rather than distribute a card that wouldn't sell well, and would be fighting a losing battle for speed versus the R3xx series.
Good move, Jen-Hsun. :) Now use your borrowed time to give us an NV35 that rocks the house. If it's good, I'm willing to wait...

Based on the rumors it seems the nv35 will be much better then the nv30, but this is simple dejavu ... all this months talking/waiting about the nv30 ... now will be the nv35 ...
edit: I just hope they delivery it on time, say 2 months before r400 ?!
im tired of waiting. ive waited long enough. im tired of nvidias broken promises. im not believing anything they tell us anymore. ill wait till i see it myself.

My guess is that they'll have the nv35 out within the next 3 months and that it'll be considerably faster than the r350.

bah, i bet they'll delay that sob too cuz they still have to find a way to get a 256bit bus

doubt it. I think ATI has a good hold on the speed race for awhile. NV35 could still be some time away, meanwhile R350 isnt so far and it should overclock nicely with the smaller 0.13 die size. So inshort, Nvidia is gonna be in second place for who knows how long.
/me hugs his TI4400...thank god they didn't screw this puppy up! :retard:

And you will continue to wait while R300 owners enjoy high resolution gaming with AA/AF and the best 3D image quality on the market. When your long anticipated NV35 does manage to show up, it'll likely be trumped by the R400. Kudos ATi!

I don't think the GeFOrce FX is slow..its not like its as bad GeForce 3 or a GeForce 4, it is sometimes 2.5x faster than a GeForce 4 ti4600 it most cases. As long as its little slower or similar performance to the competing graphic cards. It is still the top performing card. So it is not slow.

getting a 256bit bus doesn't seem to be the problem based on a couple of articles... it's getting it at a decent cost... my office will pay $1200 for a graphics card, but the mass market will definately NOT....
time will tell... if nVidia cannot come up with something else fast, they will be hurting....

If by June/july we dont see nv35 cards on the shelves that will be bad, by then, all the hype about the r400 will start ...

Well I know its not loud from other board partners..
Though I know there will be at least a 1000 3dmark improvement with improved drivers.

LOL, well atleast Nv35 is on the way... and it'll give some time for ATi to take some market share, this is really good for us customers, ATi will go even stronger and Nvidia will pull fingers outta their ass(I hope).

In all honesty, even you diehard Nvidia types may find it difficult not to cave and get an R350 based card... Just little while longer and you will all see... ;)
BTW, as i posted last weekish.. Nv35 is sceduled to hit the street in Junish.
