Anyone tried AXP2600 (266fsb) in K7S5A?

I know the website says it supports it, but does it actually work flawlessly? I want more performance in UT2k3 and have no desire for a video upgrade at this time. And according to Futuremark, while a R9700Pro would only give me an 11% upgrade, an AXP2600 would give me a 44% upgrade!

I doubt it will fly. :(

According to some posts at amdmb.com's forums, apparently the K7S5A's BIOS doesn't like the some of the higher clocked T-Bred Athlons.

i wouldn't say it would run too well, baring in mind its a fairly old (but very nice) board you got...

why not upgrade to a cheapo nf2 board and a slightly cheaper chip than the 2600, surely be a similar improvement with the bonus of a shiny new board.

Dosent the K7S5A only support 266 FSB. The xp2600 chip runs at 333 FSB.

I'm runing a 2400 now in the K7S5a and I believe it does support the XP2600 but only if there is a 266 FSB version.

You will also need the latest bios for the mobo to enable support for the newer chips.

I just upped my old XP 1800 to a XP2400 and had no problems at all.

Combined with a R9700 and a bit of overclocking on the GPU, I was able to crack 5000 on 3dmark2003. Pretty nice for such an old mobo :)
