Nvidia will launch upgraded versions of the GeForce 7900 GTX and GeForce 7900 GT graphics cards that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) between July and the middle of August, with the cards continuing to be manufactured by Flextronics, according to sources at Taiwan graphics card makers

Wonder if this is more of a "Oops..we screwed up before but here is the fixed version"..cover up.(pirate)

I dont care TBH, I only use the PC for games and Internet.

Some people will be very pissed off if this is true though.

Probably won't bother the hardcore crowd for sure - they upgrade every refresh cycle. This may be more of an issue for those people that upgrade every couple years though.

I guess it doesn't matter to me, because I don't even know what the hell HDCP does or is for. Could someone explain please? Then I might get mad.

It's copy protection for HD signals- without it you can't get the full resolution from Blue Ray or HD-DVD.

YouŽll need a Blu-ray/HD-DVD drive and display with a HDCP chip as well. Basically all 3 components need that HDCP chip and not just the video card. It does surprise me because I thought that all 7900 cards already had them.

Can there be a national recall on all 7900 GTX 512MB graphic cards that don't have this
newer advanced HDCP technology intergrated into it? :D
