I read about this where they get a PSU for just the GPU with the power for SLI as well i think 150W / card and it fits near the 5'1'2 slots. I think this is a great idea..so far ive only heard of one company doing it..but i think others will follow the samething.

Yeah Thermaltake is making 250W PSUs just for dual GPUs .. i've seen some in a local store yesterday. i think its a nice idea esp for the next gen GPUs which are going to reuqire high amount of power.

The problem I see with GPU PSU's is the same as with dual psu's, the difference in voltage between the two is BAD. You would have different voltage coming from the PCI-E slot and connection to the gpu psu.

This is a bad bad idea.

I think they've already tried it and fried a card or two. The problem is that the power to the GPUs and the rest of the components are all out of sync. The result is something breaks or locks up.
