Ok I just got my new laptop. It's an HP dv8000t with an Nvidia GeForce go 7600, gig of RAM and an Intel T2500 duo cpu @2.0ghz. I just got BF2 and I can't get it to work. When I start the game the screen goes black like it wants to start and then it flashes back to the desktop. Are there any driver updates for ths video card? I currently have forceware version 84.54.

Have you tried the patches for the game?

Its probably just the refresh rate issue. Go into defaultvideo.con I cant remember the name offhand and edit it to say allowallrefresh=1.

this file is located in your BF2 folder.

It's definitely a refresh rate issue and not your laptop. Make sure you're not using any refresh rate programs that force certain refresh rates. Also, make sure your screen's refresh rate is set to 60Hz. The game should at least start. For this game I would recommend at least 2GB of RAM as you may see some sluggish action with 1GB, and it will take a while to get back to the Windows desktop when you exit the game.

the highest my refresh rate goes to is 59Hz.
