Kyle posted this in the hardforums when someone asked if it was true (I assume you mena thte cancellation of the GFFX Ultra):

And it looked to be a lie earlier?

You guys KNOW I do not post BS on our news page. Rumors we do throw up there from time to time but we fully make sure they are prefaced as rumor and even then, they are not every day Inquierer bull****, many of ours actually stick.

When we post something in the nature that we have tonight, it is quite simply the truth and nothing less.

Well to have that on their front page and be incorrect would kill HardOCP's reputation as a worthy news and review site permanently.

I hate to see them cancel it but they would just end up loseing lots of money on it if they stick it out. I mean it should have been here months ago, it is a gen behind what ATI is doing.
I have faith in their decisions, now if they can just get NV35 in shape....

They already did that for some of us.

your personal experience does not equate to statements concerning the nv30 chipset coming to the market unfortunately :)

though I sympathize with you :)

I really do think the cancellation has less to do with speed but rather that even with their current cooling system it still overheats when in normal home user enviroments ie. closed case - extended use.

While there's a small segment that that analyse all the info on forums and websites there's a much larger group that will just see it as the next upgrade from their TI4600 - and in that respect it certainly would be.
In UK there's only one place I've found where you can pre-order - after this news most are now cancelling. What this means is that they did have sales.
I can only assume that Nvidia are predicting this as otherwise it would be more logical to not have any mention of cancelling but rather mention small runs and claim the reason is it's only intended for the prestige market. (which would in fact create higher demand).
Also, if rumours are true that they still intend to sell the Non Ultra at $300 then it can be assumed that they don't consider the NV30 chip design flawed.

Sorry, you are correct. I just can't seem to pass up a thread that mentions [h] without mentioning that, it's just sort of a reflexive posting action.

Me apologies, I'll try and stop.

Yep!

Sure looks like the Ultra will be canned PNY is not listing the Ultra anymore and have dropped that system requiremenst big time and also alot of sites like Compusa are not calling it Ultra anymore.

Not to mention it cant render any Fog...

I wonder how they are going to get around that one even with the non-ultra.

How's this a second missed cycle? You will still be able to buy cards using nv30's @ 400/400.

Some will make use out of non-ultra NV30's. Hence watercooling :)
