I just picked up the PNY Verto 7600GT. PNY says on their site that the card has speeds for 560 core and 1.4 memory rate, Newegg also had it listed as 560/1400.

I am looking at the nvidia control panel and it's telling me the card is set to 560/700. For poops and giggles I tried to auto overclock and it only got to 587/762. I don't need to tell you this is no where near 1400. I don't care about overclocking it I was just wondering if the 1400 was something that had to be enabled or retime the card to achieve.

Curiously the box it came in said 7600GT but the product code on the card is VCG7600GXPB.

Everest doesn't seem to read the gpu either. It will tell me the make and model but that's it. My guess is that this gpu was released after Everest free edition stopped being supported.

It's DDR memory ( double data rate ). So a 700 Mhz clockspeed means that data can be read and written from RAM at 700 x 2 MHz ( = 1400 MHz ).

hahah what a n00b!

hahah what a jack@ss! Are all your posts this constructive and helpful? Real benefit to society aren't you?

So computers aren't my full time hobby. I can build an auto****er paintball gun from scratch, how about you? I play paintball and get thousands of dollars a year in free product from sponsors, how about you? I have a degree in accounting, what do you do besides troll forums?

i can use common sense rather than ask a stupidly obvious question. so stfu

hahah what a n00b!To make matters worse, the explanation of "Its double data rate, so its 2x700MHz you see on the control panel" isn't even accurate.

Because the 7600GT actually runs GDDR3, which is based off DDR2 but isn't exactly the same standard as DDR nor is it DDR3. And my 6800 uses actual DDR but shows up as a full 800MHz on the control panel and not 400MHz (2x) as your theory would suggest.

I had the same reaction as you did jetaylorpb when I bought my 7600GT, only since I had already read that the nv control panel showed half of the memory clock on some 7xxx cards (if not all) I didn't worry.

IMO, spanket is the n00b here. Posting in a question thread just to take a dump in it.

It's peoples common sense like yours which keeps lethal injection in vogue.

Edit: the above was regarding spankee not Daneel

Thanks for the info those who provided any. At first I wasn't too worried but I saw the 7600gx on the card. I thought maybe they packaged or sent the wrong model but I couldn't find any reference anywhere for a gx series 7600.

hhaahah, your all nOObs because I started puberty while you were still gravy in your papa's loins. lol

But don't panic dude, the card is all fine and well.

The auto overclock doesn't seem to bad, have you tried running it through 3d mark '06 at those speeds and did all go well without crashing, bsod etc ?

I saw the ...gx on the manufacturers product code on newegg but I wanted to make sure there wasn't any other issues.

I did run the 3dmark06 at different speeds with no errors, scores to follow:
7600GT 560/1400 = 3214/1333/1203/1395
7600GT 588/1528 = 3389/1414/1287/1385 (I wonder why my cpu score keeps decreasing?)
I have restored the default settings since I am running BF2 with 50 bots and high settings at around 50-60fps (15-20fps on karkland in the crowded streets but I hate the infantry/city maps anyways). I didn't think the 5% performance gain or having the fan constantly running was worth any extra wear and tear on the hardware either.

Why do people have to get so bent out of shape?

When I got my 7900GT, I also noticed that the memory was clocked at 700MHz. I knew the memory of the card was GDD3 which is based on DDR so I assumed it was running at 1.4GHz effective. Interestingly enough, my 7800 GT was clocked at 1.10GHz by Coolbits. I overclocked it to 1.2GHz.
