YAY!!!!!
Today, he announced that he signed a multi year deal with Chip Ganassi to race in NASCAR!!! He will replace Casey Mears in the 42 Havoline Dodge.
Now I have to put up with him there too....can't he just leave? :p
QUE'S LA JODA!??!
Hehehhe, kidding.
Why are you glad he left the F1, and more importantly, why did he? (I haven't kept up with the F1 for a loooong time)

Yep, it's for real. It was announced today at ChicagoLand Speedway before the NASCAR race

Why am I glad he left? He wrecked more cars in his 5 years in F1 than any other driver in the series. He's a hack. He doesnt care to bang on you whenever he feels threatened by a pass. In Open wheel racing, it's a "man law" that you DO NOT BANG wheels in Open wheel racing! You go flying through the air with the greatest of ease!
Why did he? Because no "top tier" teams (McLaren, Ferrari, Renault) wanted him, and he doesnt want a mid pack car. He was with McLaren, but McL is going to have Kimi Raikkenen (hopefully), and Alonso.

This is too much for most NASCAR fans I think. We have coming in 2007:
1) Toyota entering the Nextel Cup
2) A guy named Montoya in Nextel Cup
3) The "car of tomorrow" for what, eight races or so?
^^^^ And mabey Danica Patrick :D http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/headlines/cup/07/10/danica.patrick.nascar/index.html

It's funny you mentioned that...When He drove for Ganassi in Champcar (then it was CART), his nickname was Montoyota :p

Montoya will be replaced for the rest of the season by Pedro de la Rosa.
I must agree though, he is somewhat of a nut.
Oh well.. you can only be good for so long...
*looks at Michael Shumagher* :wtf:

Yeah, just what NASCAR needs - Danica Patrick. I can't stomach an IRL race anymore because they never STFU about her.
Shut up about Danica until she oh, I don't know, does something behind the wheel?

I have never really liked Montoya. He always struck me as a careless driver who always caused avoidable incidents.

The problem lies here:
I also watch NASCAR, and if Montoya can cause a 7 car accident (Indy), how many cars can he wreck in NASCAR?!?!? I can see it now
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have here a 28 car accident, and the raced has been cancelled due to multiple...."
blah. He needs to quit, and go back to Colombia and race go karts.

Ughhhh, Nascar is really going down the tubes of late. IMO, it has sort of a WWE feel to it now and with the announce of these 2 and with toyota entering, the drama is gonna be more insane. Plus the Nascar color commentators just seem to be over the top in wwe fashion.
Montoya is just going to be a nascar tool. A tool to bring in a bigger audiance south of the boarder.

MY god I cannot stomach any more "Danica Mania". I have been to at least 10 races in the last 2 years (going to Milwaukee this weekend also), and she has got to be the biggest beotch in the world. She actually runs from people so she doesnt have to talk to them. Hey Danica, PR is part of the gig, and the "P" in PR stands for PUBLIC.
Until she does something behind the wheel, would the press please STFU. And look, I know that they just switched chassis and stuff, but all the other teams switched to Honda power plants, and she had one last year, so the playing field for all teams is pretty much where it was last year.
Now her move to nascar would be a joke. She has been running open wheel cars for her whole life, and the switch to "fendered" cars would be disasterous for her, especially at that level. You dont get to "learn" at that level, you better be there to go fast and turn left.:D

There are only half a dozen IRL cars that really compete anyway. If she came over to Nextel Cup she'd be eaten alive.

Once in 10 races....
JPM will do well in Nascar because it fits his style of racing. He is a bumper and a rubber. He'll do well in Nascar
