View Full Version : Revisiting Crytek's The Project W/7900 Series

I just bumped in to The Project on my hard drive and decided to give it a whirl on my 7900gt. For the most part it seems to display everything correctly except the water, it's just blank. I forgot how great this thing looked. I've never seen it run on the Ati hardware it was designed for but the DOF looks great now. I remember back on my 6800gt when the sections with DOF would come on, the screens focus would be split. Anyone know how to get the water working? The 3Dc texture compression seems to be working and all the other effect. I don't think AA is working but you can set it in the menu.

Oh man, I remember trying to run this on my 6800NU and giving up due to the slideshow I was seeing. Now with the 7900, wow it's smooth. Getting the blank water too, but still, looks great.

Is this a game?
Nope. "The Project" is a real-time techdemo and also a machinima (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machinima) that was made with a souped up CryENGINE v1.

Use 3dAnalyze - it works with my 6800

Yeah I used 3dAnalyzer with my 6800 also. Doesn't seem to be updated for the 7900's yet I don't think it will, last time it was updated was back in 2004. It really does speed right along on the 7900's though looks great, it's just missing the water.
