To ensure the quality we want, we've decided to push the release out of 2006 to allow for extended testing, feedback and game balancing.

I hope they atleast release a Quake Wars multiplayer test to the public.

I'm sure that would alleviate some of the disappointment.

I'd rather it was late than rushed, we see too much crap released on the PC these days.

Im glad about this TBH.

Have you watched the trailers? I'm kinda turned off by BF2142 though I really enjoyed BF2. Quake Wars just looks so much better, also with the graphics :)

This is good news I think. It will get the product more polish and there will be less bugs. Not to mention, I think this is well after the release of Battlefield 2142. In that case it will give them ample oppertunity to make money because people will want better gameplay and graphics.

Sure late is better then unfinished, but it's still a bummer that it's being delayed. :(

No, this is bad news. Hopefully it's still Q1 07 or something like that.

Can you say Vista, sure you can, not to mention that very few cards are DX 10 qualified. I see this as a way to cut costs, if they release before Vista, then they have to support all the cards at release, not to mention all the extra bagage that comes with it.

I just hope they release a Linux client, that would be sweet! I knew I should of held off a purchase of a new graphics card. Now I can get some good deals after the Christmas rush.

I wont touch 2142. Dice and EA have proven over and over how they are completely incapable of producing a half functional server browser. I swear to God just booting up that game makes me feel like I downgraded to my old x486. Bad news about Quake Wars but if it's what it takes to stomp 2142, all the power to em.

Not likely, since neither share any similarities beyond the Doom 3 engine and a first person perspective.

Booo :( Damn :(

As for BF2142, I am so uninterested in it it is not even funny. And I loved BF2.

Did you truly believe the game would come out in 06? Come on, it's marketing that's all. They sucker you in to believe it's coming in 06 so you get excited as hell and when they've done it long enough they ALWAYS pull a it's delayed.

I've never believed this game was coming in 06.

I really don't think delaying a game purposly is for marketing reasons. I cannot see any reason to delay a game other than it is not finished.

To me, it seems the best way to market a game, is hype like crazy, then deliver. Not hype like crazy then delay. People will forget about it.

This delay better be worth it!

I agree with you based on the trailers, but it sounds like you played it at E3 - did you? :)

I don't think it has to do with Vista considering it is OpenGL.

If the original ET is any indication, then "game balancing" will take about... 10 years :D
I love ET but it's realy hard to keep it balanced. It's more like meta-balanced ;)
