Yes it looks exciting! The models (weapons, characters, vehicles) are very good, incl. their textures, considering the scale of the world. I definitly canīt wait for this one as well. :)

Haha, poor stalker. I remember when a massive world was one of their biggest selling points. It's getting a little diluted now.

I remember Op Flashpoint... I have good memories of the demo, and horrible memories of the game. I returned it because it was so buggy.

This game looks almost exactly like it. Even the same art style... realistic but low quality. Sort of like they used photos highly compressed in .jpg format for the textures.

So this game replaces Op Flahspoint 2 ??

Because Bohemia Interactive Split with Flashpoint's Publisher "Codemasters"they cannont use the Flashpoint Title.
so they have called it armed assault, also their next project is just called "Game 2" at this point, which should have been called Flashpoint 3...but has to be named something else Now.
Armed Assault was originaly suppose to be "Operation Flashpoint 1.5"But as The PR Guy For Bohemia "Paul Stratham" said Armed assault has pretty much turned into "Operation Flashpoint 2"
and "Game 2" is now considered Next Gen "Game 3"

Yep thanks LT.Schaffer.
the tank battles in Op Flahspoint is something i'll never forget (esp when you become a tank commander!) .. even the sounds , commands , voices & speech are something that gets you the feel of a tactical battlefield.

I admit, OFP had problems (it was so frustrating when you kept falling through walls or floors due to the poor clipping detection) and the graphics were a bit dated even when it was released. HOWEVER, I played it exclusively for a year because the gameplay was far in advance of anything then (and since if you ask me). It was the FIRST FPS to have large maps and vehicles (most think BF1942 was the trend setter). There are real reasons why it was voted Game of the Year, so if you shelved it, you really did miss something exceptional.

I'm expecting ArmA to NOT look as good as BF2 (so yet again, dated graphics upon release), but I also expect it to play better that OFP and have less bugs. Especially since multiplayer has been revamped, it's going to be very, very addictive. If you're into CS or even BF2, you may not like it as it will require real strategy and tactics plus a time investment to get results. No bunny-hopping shooting fest (don't get me wrong, I'm eagerly awaiting BF2142 for my bunny hopping laugh-a-minute gaming experience).

I've been waiting for this one for some time now. Armed Assault is going to be the first game of it's type to support the TrackIR head tracking unit. Head movement independent of aim. I can't wait to try it out. The game is looking really good now.

For what its worth, Op Flashpoint wasnt the first game to have large maps and vehicles. You can go all the way back to Starseige: Tribes in 1997 for that.

Flashpoint was more of a sim than anything. It played and looked like one. It wasnt flashy and it wasnt real polished but it was detailed gameplay wise.

The game was definitly one of the most realistic and made you feel very vulnerable as an infantery soldier because after all a single bullet could kill you. The AI was very advanced for its time and the recoil and bullet drop required a lot of skill to kill the targets fast. Yes it is very much a sim, after all a military version (VBS1, slightly modified OFP) was sold to several armies, incl. the US and Australian army. VBS2 will be based on Armed Assault and is eagerly awaited by not too few either who enjoy these special types of games. Itīs not everyones cup of tea but if you live thru the drawbacks (steep learning curve, dated visuals), it will catch you and youīll be addicted to it for a long time.

I replayed a few older games a while ago and OFP still hooked me a longer time than a lot higher rated games from around that time (HL1 for instance). Of course I was always into sims and people who hate these kinds of "games" in the first place, will have a hard time be able to enjoy OFP or Armed Assault.

mmm ditto for being unimpressed here. Models are ok, but lighting seems horrible, the trees look awful. Also the shadows look z-buffered.

This game seriously looks undesirable... It looks the same as Flashpoint, with better graphics. Nothing new or creative. Doesnt have my vote.

New Screenshots (http://www.armedassault.org/web2/5-new-armed-assault-screenshots-aug-02.html)

Game will be out in October for Polish players.

And yes, graphics might not be the best side of game but gameplay abilites are unlimited. Much better than BF2.

Not that impressed.
Why is there always one post like this? Every time great pictures are released one person always pees on the parade.

I don't see "great pictures" that's why. I'm allowed to voice my opinion and there's nothing you can do about it. ;)

Does that make you mad?
