Do such things exist? If they do, it will make my laptop selection far, far easier. Most laptops in my price range only have VGA outputs. But my Xbox 360 is connected to my Dell 2005FPW that way. If I can get an adapter or cable that would let me connect a VGA-out laptop to the DVI port on my monitor, that would be awesome.

You can go from VGA to DVI-I with a cable. However if the display requires DVI-D then you will need a Convertor Box which will convert the analogue vga to digital DVI.

I think thats right...

I was just thinking...wouldn't a simple KVM switch do exactly what I need? I would connect both the laptop and the 360 to the switch and hook the single output into the monitor.

A KVM switch might do it...although...I've heard of some devices (like a Mac Mini) that won't transmit their video signal through splitters or some KVMs. I don't know firsthand though but I would want to verify before buying anything.

Yeah, but the DVI converter box is $300. I'd rather have just switched the cables manually for that kind of money. ;)

According to posts I've read on the AVS and Xbox forums, KVMs do work. TigerDirect carries a lot, and their warehouse is close by. So as soon as the laptop ships, I'm going to pick one up from there. It may cost a bit more, but it's worth it not to have to ship it back to another online retailer if it doesn't happen to work.
