I sure hope someone here can help me.

Twice now, I've updated my drivers (Nvidia GForce4MX 420) and all is well. Then, Windows does an update (XP) and suddenly, I revert to the old drivers (which I've uninstalled). I'm not absolutely positive that it's the Windows updating that's doing this, but I can't think of anything that could be causing it. I haven't done a system restore or anything like to.

What's going on? How do I prevent this from happening?

PLEASE HELP!

Turn off automatic updates and visit the Windows Update site manually on a regular basis.

saturnotaku,

Forgive me for being a bit dense, but how would that help? Wouldn't I have to install the updates anyway? Or does it work differently when it's on automatic?

Sorry, I think I misread what you had posted. Download the program Driver Cleaner ( (google) for it) and follow the instructions in the readme. It will clean out all previous driver and registry entries for NVIDIA cards. After running the program and when you reboot, you'll be able to install the driver of your choice. Just be sure to run the cleaner every time you update your drivers.

I'll try that... thanks so much, saturnotaku!
