Or, if'n you'd like to have the input of some of the ATI driver crew on the discussion too...discuss www.driverheaven.net ;)

(Ok, so Terry hangs out at R3D too occasionally... :p )

What did you expect from a game being CPU limited? No driver update in the world will fix low performance on such game.

Anyway LOD and HIGHDETAILACTORS seem to be broken on Unreal2 (causes massive triangle counts since detail is not lowered depending on the distance) so if they manage to fix those some improvement will happen.

Now if I only had a video card on which I could use these drivers. :(

Can I use the Catalyst 3.0a control panel with these drivers? I don't want to tie up my dialup connection downloading the control panel if it's not necessary. :)

That w1zzard guy has already hacked the new drivers if you wanna try his.

I used the rivatuner thing, the 3.0a drivers are working good for me unless I hear something astounding about the new ones.

big performance boost in UT2k3 for me, at least 30%, IQ seems better, haven't tried Bf1942 yet.

The new Cats fixed all my one problems I ever had with ATI cards. IMO they have taken the driver support from Nvidia.

for 8500's, too? Or are the improvements mostly DX9/R300 focused?

There is a 15-35% increase in fsaa on radeon 8500;)

Where'd you get that info? That psyches me up, cuz my 8500 AIW DV will be running @ 8x6 almost all the time on a tv, and if that's the case, ALL EYE CANDY will be available on this card... well, all DX8 eye candy... Can you say "life extension"?

But like I said, where did you get this info? url pleeze?

:)

Link (http://pdownload.mii.instacontent.net/ati/drivers/Catalyst_31_Release_Notes.html) You should also check rage3d to see what radeon8500 owners have to say but from what I've read they have seen a big performance jump in fsaa.
Enjoy!!:)

Nope.. The Cat's 3.1 have improved tv-out/theater settings which changed the layout of the control panel.

!st set that ican tell a difference right off the bat.

In BF1942, for example, ni flickering whatsoever when using my sniper scope at long ditsances, and FSAA performance is up about 10% on my little old R8500:)

Rock solid- stable-better IQ and performance..never replied in a driver release thread, so if that means anything.... me happy:)

Duely noted and they've been download and are awaiting the arrival of my replacement 9500, which should be at my door today. :D
