Wireless mouse /keyboard problem - Bluetooth v rf.

Hi all,

My mx3100 (wireless keyboard/mx-1000 mouse) died. Logitech have said they are no longer available so they offered me a bluetooth mx5000 combo instead:

I've heard rumours bluetooth is not as good as RF for GAMING (What it is used for mainly). Is this the case or just bull****?

Problem is that there are no other logitech combos on offer at the mx3100/mx-1000 mouse class and i reallydo prefer all wireless. Ofcourse, they have offered a refund but that's not really what i want.

I want (prefer) a mx-1000/G7 and wireless keyboard but......

Any other ideas or comments on the bluetooth.

Well, what do you mean it "died"? Did the reciever go out? Did the keyboard crack? Did the batteries in the mouse die?

Reason I ask is depending on what you have left, you MIGHT be able to get a better replacement more simular to your current set up.

Having owned a Bluetooth MX900 and matching keyboard I can safely say Bluetooth is not for gaming at all. I moved to a MX1000 and G15 and it is lights years better. I would recommend taking the refund and mixing and matching your own combo. The MX5000 is nice, but as your are playing mainly games you'll want a G7/MX1000 ideally and whatever Keyboard take your fancy.

I got the credit and ordered a G15 kb and mx518. The kb in stock but the mx 518 is out of stock at logitech australia. LoL. My Luck.

I ordered the mx518 because i like the back AND front buttons. Can the tilt on the scroll wheel on the G7 be used as front and back?

Is the G7 really any better than the mx518 and the mx1000?

Another reason for the mx518 is that i HATED the setpoint software for the mx1000. Is the G7 software the same?

As far as the mx1000 goes, it was the mouse that would no longer charge in the docking station. Not sure why.

I have asked around a few places in Australia and no stock. I did find it at a local electircal store for another $40+ on top of internet pricing. Bummer.

wow! I just discovered the mx518 uses Setpoint. Not good IMHO. I've never liked the key mapping in setpoint.
