I just bought a new dell xps 400. It came with an nvidia 7300 and I had an old 6600 left from my old computer so I decided to switch the card out. After installing the new driver from nvidia (I don't have the cd driver anymore), it installed the card as a 6200 instead of a 6600. Any ideas why this might have happened?

Thanks ahead of time...

The 7300 le was slower and did not support a 1440x900 resolution.

err.. actually
the 7300 supports the exact same resolutions as the 6600gt

and 1440x900 is a non standard resolution anyway.

I honestly don't see how it would install as an 6200 if it was actually a 6600. Unless Dell made a "mistake" in their driver inf and you actually got a 6200.. I would think NVIDIA drivers will detect it properly. But I could be wrong...

Perhaps try going back to an older driver from the nvidia driver archives. Perhaps 75 or 80 series
