I had read an article that said u could change a 9500 to a 9700pro video card and a 9700 to a firegl card or somthin like that. I currently own a 9700 card. Could someone direct me to the article that gives a run down on how to do whats stated above.

Yes, you can hack some R9500's to be a R9700. It doesn't always work, but it can work.

Download RivaTuner here (http://www.guru3d.com/files/rivatuner/) and make sure you download the version called "RivaTuner 2.0 + SoftR9700 + SoftFireGL"

 Edited 2/14 about 4pm

Gator, stop spreading your misinformation.

Only a 9500 NON PRO can do it. Here is an article:

Fricking christ man, it is a specific set of 9500 which you can actually name: THE 128 MB 9500 NON PRO. That's the one, THE ONLY ONE, that can be modded to a 9700.

I will refer you to this thread where gator got shut the **** up:

He has now edited all of his posts to save face, but he was spreading misinformation hardcore.

actually its even more specific than that :)

the 9500-non pro on SPECIFIC boards can be modded...

some sapphire 9500 non-pro cards are based on the 9700 non-pro board can be modded and sme other 3rd party makers boards.. :)

this means that the extra 4 pipelines and 256 bit memory is intact... hence the mod works...

I think its the sapphires with the red board. The black PCP 9500 NPs at newegg can not be modded in this way. Also, even if the mod works, you can still get artifacts.
