External SATA and the round single pin plug is for S/PDIF out for audio.

The LCD is some type of read-out status I would think.

The Panel is an ELD most likely for a light source to assist you when plugging in the various cables to the I/O port...

@Rytr I doubt it displays anything because when do you look back there? Also, the little button next to it has a lightbulb with is indicative of what I am thinking...

That's an ASUS AM2 mobo I think, I think Anandtech did a review of it. The LED is to aid in diagnoses of failures IIRC. Asus added some bits to this mobo like plugs to aid connection wires from the case to the mobo where sometimes it is fustrating. If i can find the link now.....

I bet Jakup is sad that ASUS droped the printer port.

That lcd is wasted on the back of the board really. A hands and knees job + a sore nech. Just checked the price of the board on scan and it is 170 pounds.

Looks solid...but..that is one hell of a price tag..might be a good motherboard to keep an eye for a price drop..some where in the future ><

I just hope that ASUS gives the same attention to the NF5 590 SLI IE for Conroe. If they do I might try it, depends on the reviews and how this and the DFI board performs. Whichever reaches the Highest Quad-pump and FSB, will probably make my decision. :D

I read about this a while ago. Great name choice there, guys. "Republic of Gamers?" A little too close to China for a name like that, eh? ;)

I am willing to put money on it that the DFI will be the best overclocker. Even better than the gigabyte board that people are using on xtremesystems. The only problem is why they take so long to get their boards out.

The only problem is why they take so long to get their boards out.Im thinking there might be a problem with the 590 chipset and Conroe, thats why its taking a little longer. I read somwhere that the DFI board was due out on the Aug 10th but they had to push it back to the 25th, which is only a couple of weeks, I am supprised theres no reviews out yet, and the lack of info on the 590.

I wonder how good it is for overclocking..... Im looking to upgrade about mid-Aug and am still fighting between AM2 and conroe so im looking toward the motherboards too :)

Tough choice with the AM2s being so cheap now, but I think Conroe would be the way to go ;)

I also heard this board (asus conroe 590) will be out around August 1st (according to our buyer).

DO NOT GET THE GIGABYTE BOARD!!! (GA-965P-DS3)

1) Started with OCZ DDR800 5-5-5-12 (stock voltage) - Could not load windows - gets errors.

2) Jakup took it home and figured out the Mobo didn't like the memory. He overvolted it by +2 and it became stable. At this point I thought it was the memory, and I didn't think I should HAVE to overvolt at stock (2.4ghz E6600)

3) Ordered G-Skill from new egg (DDR 800 4-4-4-12)

4) Installed G-Skil, no post. Would sometimes boot to windows with a +4 overvolt! But it would freeze during super PI.

5) Got pissed about the board, and replaced it with an ASUS P5B Wifi. G-Skill still wouldn't post.

6) Put in OCZ - Runs flawlessly with no overvolt.

I was going to buy an Nforce 590 board, but since I won't be switching to SLI until the fall, I think I'll just keep the P5B. It has been rock solid so far...

Same thinking here but it is certainly hard to pass up on those super cheap AMD and AM2 chips/motherboards. I almost want to build a whole new rig, just to do it.
