What would you think would be the craziest Conroe setup ? We're talking all parts from motherboard, ram, to watercooling and of course the strongest Conroe CPU available X6800 !

Many people are looking forward to DFI LanParty nForce590 SLI.

Money no object, build the craziest machine in your mind and post it here :D ..

I'll be excited to see what you figure out :p

I've never build a watercooled system so I will look forward to learn what to choose.

Thanks in advance for your participance.

Well, these parts probably go without saying...

DFI 590 SLI
Core 2 Extreme 2.93GHz
2GB (or more?) DDR2-1066
2x 7950GX2 Quad-SLI

How about a Vapochill cooler? :D

Yup,

Vapo

DFI NF5 590
2GB G.Skill 1066MHz DDR2 (4GB would sacrifice OC'ing ability)
e6800
2x7950

What about a HDD

Raptor 150GB x2 ...

RAIDed for performance perhaps.

I'm not an expert, so I wouldn't want to prescribe you geniuses. :p

The new Seagates with perpendicualr technology are actually pretty much the same speed as the Raptors, which will allow you to get 2x 750gb's in RAID 0 :)

For the case I would have to go with my Aerocool ExtremeEngine3. I knwo everyone here hates it but I enjoy it and it cools very well with the 250mm fan.

if this is something you are honestly considering, i would hold off on the 7950 until the next series comes out, a dx10 card with the top conroe :drooling:

This is simple:

Intel Conroe x6800

Asus or DFI 590 Chipset board (Features EPP support)

CorsairXMS TWIN2X2048-6400C3 EPP (this mem is o/c to 1300MHZ!)

Evga Dual 7950 GX2's (Quad SLI) then you can trade them in for two G80's via step-up free.

Dell 3007 WFP XHD 30" LCD

Asetek WaterChill External watercooling for all cpu's, dual vga's, and mboard chipsets.

Yes either the new Segates, or the WD Raptors.

I Just purchased 2 of the "NEW" WD Raptor 1600ADFD 160Gb HDD's from Ebay. Here: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Western-Digital-150GB-Raptor-Hard-Drive-OEM-160GB_W0QQitemZ230010301660QQihZ013QQcategoryZ6445 9QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The Seller only has 5 left. It is a great price. My Total Cost for TWO HDD's was $355.76 plus $19.74 shipping for a total of $375.50

what about:

- Intel Conroe x6800
- DFI nForce 590 SLI
- CorsairXMS TWIN2X2048-6400C3 EPP
- Western Digital WD1500 Raptor is far by the best harddrive yet, perpendicular recording isn't that fast yet, but it will get close soon!
.. wait for G80

shungokusatsu: why would you use an external watercooler instead of the normal WaterChill kit with HDD cooling?

Since when is perpendicular recording affecting disc speed? I thought it only helps with storage density?

I think you answered your own question, because the data is packed perpendicularly the drive head moving the same distance and speed across a data area as opposed to none perpendicular drive would read more data and therefore have a higher data rate.(i guess :) )

Hey, Jakup, can you find out if the eVGA step-up program is valid in Greece (Europe)? I asked about it in a major store and they never heard it before in their lives. Thanks in advance. If you help me, I'll give you tips to which greek island to go for vacation (where the most bi+ches go). :D

Which? If your going Conroe, definately hget EPP memory, if you can't afford it, go for DDR2 1000 or 1066.
