A 486 chip isn't a collectable, it's garbage. :)

If I had not already bought mine, I would consider the E6700 or at least the E6600, as they both can spanke the AMD FX60 and FX62 in games. LOL

True. I want to upgrade so bad but I just built my computer about 3 months ago and it would be a waste to upgrade to a whole new mobo and CPU now and RAM now. I bought the 3200 back when it was 150 then also. Damn!

That price on the FX60 is horrible. $500+ for a chip that gets blown away by something that costs significantly less? lol Idiots.

Watch it. Some folks are unloading early versions that did not OC for crap.

"If you are buying used processors on E-Bay or some random sites forums beware the older steppings as they are buggy and poor overclockers!"

I've seen evidence on XS forums to support this.

So a socket thats being discontinued by Amd is a better upgrade path. Can I please ask what you are smoking? You need some better quality crack

Well, if you're still on 939 it'll cost you $350 for an E6600 (or $570 for an E6700), $150-200 for a motherboard, and maybe $150 for RAM. So shooting for the $525+ FX-60 isn't really a bad decision instead of spending $650-$920 (or $810-$1080+) for the Conroe rig.

If you're still on AGP and need to cough up the bucks for a modest 7600GT, too. Although, it'd be kind of interesting to pair an FX-60 with any of the AGP cards out currently (at least for gaming).

Yes but he said better upgrade path. A socket thats being discontinued with no new processors being released is not a better upgrade path.

How about a better upgrade rest stop? :P
