Just recieved the press kit from Activision for Quakecon 2006 and included was 3 new SS

Looks cool but it deffinitely isnt the best looking game I've seen recently...

The textures are really muddy looking... I dont think its just a lack of AF either.

Hopefully its fun.

Looks great!!! But it has the same problem every game based on D3 engine has: poorly detailed textures. The only way to solve it is to pump the res.

Besides that, Crysis and a bunch of UE3 based games are coming as well, so unless Carmack comes with something new soon... Crytek and Epic upped the "ante" in graphics, they are far beyond.

I guess gameplay will be great, though. :)

Thats D3 for ya..but the best thing is that pretty much any nvidia card is gonna chew the fps..cant wait.

What script? I know the gallery software will show the image full size but other then that what issues are you having?

I should link to the gallery and then let you re-size but I figure why waste a click when I can just link to the full size image.

Anyone else having any issues?

For some reason these screen don't look as good as the previous ones. Ground textures don't look good at all.:(

That said, I'll still be picking it up.;)

It's not a big deal, but I hate it when I have a smaller Firefox window open w/a few other apps and then bam, it resizes my screen to my desktop size.

EDIT: Alright I lied, but it does center the window on the screen, which is equally bothersome.

Thanks for the pics, must say I've grown to dislike the doom 3 engine a bit over time, some times it looks great sure, but a lot of the time it looks like a pretty old game engine. It certainly doesn't look bad and gameplay will be the key.

Multiplayer games need to be tested exhaustively to find every cheap trick, every exploit that someone might use. To that end, a rolling beta is planned for Quake Wars, which will initially start small but eventually roll out the public in some limited capacity. "It's hard to nail down a date," says Cloud, when asked when a public beta might start. "We'll start off with an Activision development team, and then a 'friends and family' type of group with all the maps, and then in terms of going out to the public, it would be a limited amount of maps to get feedback on the general types of gameplay and objectives and see how they play out."

Splash Damage noted that they have done a lot of work to the Doom 3 engine, and that includes rewriting much of the network code from the ground up while keeping physics and graphics in mind. Since unlike Doom 3 and Quake 4 this is a purely multiplayer game they were able to design purely from that standpoint.

That looks quite poor compared to previous shots.

It isnt the doom3 engine that is the cause, prey uses the d3 engine but has very nice textures so lets not blame the engine ;), I blame the game developers.

From what I have played the past 2 days at quakecon the graphics defiantly aren't anything super, but it was a bunch of fun and setup very well. The game ran flawlessly and has great game play. Defiantly worth the buy.

that was cool to watch. totally rekindled my interest in this game. looks fast paced and gritty, which is right up my alley. interesting that they've done away with limiting sprint. infinite sprint. not to sure what to think of it. but then again i've never really liked running out of sprint on huge maps then have to chug along. wonder if the sprint strafe shoot will still be part of the game? i know alot of my success on rtcw/et was the use of that combination. anyways it looks frickin' bitchen, can't wait! (nana2)

I just read a preview in my favorite games magazine, and I'm surprised how much it's gonna play like Enemy Territory after all with sharply divided classes, very teamplay oriented (even more than BF2 because of the less chaos), campaign mode, experience, skills and so fourth. This is possibly the game I'm looking the most foward to right now :D

IGN has some of the worse gamers. I saw the gameplay vids of quake wars and wow did he suck. Their writers suck too. One writer complained about not being able to skip cutscene in a different game. Then readers told him what button to push so he added in his little postscript: Readers tell me to push Y to skip cutscenes. Usually, its A to skip cutscenes which i found odd about this game.

What a loser! Complain about it because you're to stupid to button mash.
