Thought you guys might wanna check some of these out :DI had a good time and can't wait to go again next year (pirate) I love both E3 and Quakecon, but Quakecon is pretty interesting since its 100% focus is the PC side of things.

For devs that I talked to, I talked to both Tim Willits and John Carmack briefly. Tim Willits told me that Quakewars is an '07 title for sure, and he wants to make sure that "they don't F it up." Carmack told me a bit about Megatexturing, and how it uses .jpg compression techniques to store 64GB of texture data.

In the main lobby hotel you will find a huge chandelier

Here are all the gamers lined up waiting to get in the event:

Yes, this thing actually drives! He has a remote control and it drove its way into Quakecon:

At the Dell booth, you will find a Conroe/SLI machine :D Scoring nearly 11,000 in 3DMark06:

Oh yea, the one and only Carmack :)

I listened to his over 2 hour presentation, and I really thought it was fascinating. I think that was the highlight of the whole trip. He talked about how we will only make incremental steps from now on, but I'm not too sure I agree with that... we have a long way to go until CG quality graphics, I think once we hit CG quality in PC games, then it will slow down. You guys should check it out in this thread:

I do agree though, graphics quality will eventually rely on the quality of the artists, rather than the quality of the technology. Also, as always, he is pretty traditional being against almost all API's. DirectX, EAX, PhysX. However, Sweeney on the other hand uses all 3 of those technologies to the fullest. It will be interesting to see how that turns out in the future.

Thanks for the info and pics JakUp. It will be interesting to see how the final Crysis game will look. I think that's pretty close to old CG material, not that close to new stuff.

lol you know what I mean :) As for Crysis.. yea, I guess some of it does look rather close to CG. Some screenies I see look CG, other ones don't. In person its hard to tell....

Nice pics. Even more surprising than the Mac is the fact there's a chick sitting next to him.

Perhaps id's hitting that with their next game? ;)
