The other night I was surfing around and ran into what appeared to be a HD mod for HL2. I mean it REALLY put some nice textures over Alex, zombies, the floor, and even the saw blades you throw with the gravity gun.

Anywho, being tired, I said, I'll get it tomorrow and of course now cannot remember where I saw it.

Any help???

The only thing I remember about the page I saw all of the screenshots on was that there was ALOT of orange background (not helpful, I know)

Thx

Holy crap, those screenshots are amazing

BTW, theres an updated version:

http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/FakeFactory_amp_Oggs_Cinematic_Mod;58868

And one for Episode 1:
http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/FakeFactory_amp_Oggs_Cinematic_Mod_Episode_1;63906

Keep in mind that both packs add some game balance changes and new music, so if you dont want those components, check the readme and delete the proper files\folders from the mod.

Well, I just spent the last hour playing HL2 with the FF&OOG mod PLUS the 91.45 drivers with TSAA on and I have to say WOW!!

HL2 and my 6800GT just impressed the hell out of me. I don't have any numbers but I can say that my gameplay experiance was GREAT. The visuals were so STUNNING! And the framerate was smooth. Only thing I noticed was that load times were probably doubled. Fair trade for such an increase in the experiance.

I took a few screenshots (no time to resize and post now ... leaving for a trip) but I will put them up later. Also, and you can't get this across with a screenshot, the MUSIC is a VAST improvement.

Seriously, go get this mod and give it a shot. Definately worth the 1.3GB download.

I've been running the FFmod since the day it came out and have kept up with each new version. It really improves the quality. I will not play the original HL2 as it just looks like crap now. :D Some of my friends just got HL2 and I tell them don't even bother playing HL2 just go get the FF mod and play that. Custom Alex and Barney skins. I like Alex's ripped shirt, Mmmmmm nice belly button.

I've heard about this before but never tried it. I think I'll give it a go tonight and play through the weekend.

I know its pervy but I put the Naked Alyx mod in yesterday ,The skin texture is amazing, She's way too skinny though. Having said that ,The bit where she climbs up the ladder to fix something ..... Im in love :)

I've never tried the mod but it looks pretty good so I guess I'll give it a shot.

Thanks for the links.

I haven't been keeping up on the development of this mod. Gotta make sure to download the updated version when I get home. Thanks for the heads up on it. :)

I've been using this mod since it's first release, amazing stuff. Interesting to see what an "amatuer" can do compared to the "experts" at valve.

My only gripe is it doesn't seem one can use the HDR mod from a different modder to work with this Fakefactory Skin Mod....at least I didnt have any luck a few months back. Haven't tried it lately. Anyone have any suggestions?

I read the HL2 version being released later this month on 360 will have updated textures and HDR ....I wanted to give my PC version the same look.

I isntalled the FFmod and it doesn't work. I isntalled it exactly as it says to and I still have all normal textures. I looked on several sites a different read me and they are the same. Anybody know why it would not work?

Probably due to the 8800 maybe? That's the only thing I can figure. But then, I don't see how the 8800 in and of itself would prevent it from working. Maybe the drivers for the 8800 then?

Not sure, just throwing things out there.

I'll try with that pack above, the one I downloaded wasn't 700mb. Maybe this pack will work...

make sure you start a new game as well, if you load a saved game, none of the changes take effect, each level needs to be started fresh.

I fired this up last night with everything maxed at 2560x1600 and it looked amazing. From the screenshots, I thought Alyx looked really weird, but in-game she looks exactly the same but, well, realistic.

It's amazing how much better they made this game look especially considering when it first came out everyone was saying how photo-realistic it looked. Comparing the original game to this mod, it looks terrible. :o

I still think some of the wall/item textures look crappy and low-res, but on the whole, A+.

I can't get it to work either. Installed per instructions, started a new game, but still have the normal skins.

Even when you launch the FF mod from the Steam menu?

Thanks, that was the problem. I didn't realize it had it's own launcher.

But I have flickering shadows when running it.

Good gosh  I just installed 3.0 with the 3.05 update. Screenshots don't even do it justice. I'm going through HL2 with this mod all over again :D
