Hey everybody (especially all of those that work at EVGA) I was wondering if this would be possible.

I'm extremely tempted to go Quad SLI and the price for the EVGA 7950 GX2 is just freaking awesome at NewEgg right now:

$499.99

So I was wondering if I order an EVGA 7950 GX2 right now, would the release of G80 fall under the 90 day Step-Up Period? The release of G80 has been rumored for September. If so I am most certainly going Quad SLI for right now!

I don't see why not. 90 days on anything new I believe. I stepped up from 7900 to 7950 np. sooooo should be cool. I would jump on it any way the card rocks.

The Step-Up program is so awesome! I have always been impressed with EVGA. I wonder if there will be a way to do Quad 80 right from the beginning.

Just remember the G80 is rumored to come out in September. If it comes out past the 90 days then your still SOL.

At that point all I will think about is the awesome performance that I had for months and the poor suckers that will pay through the nose for these awesome DX9 cards on Ebay. :rofl I still can't understand what people are thinking sometimes on Ebay.

You know something in the description about the cards "being perfect for gaming with Windows Vista".;) :D

Meanwhile I will take what I earn and soak up the love of DX10. (nana2) Although I still imagine that G80 will hit within 90 days starting....right....NOW! :D

If G80 is released within 90 days then you can step up to it :)

Educated guess that will probably prove to be fairly accurate.

That's unknown, the cards are expected to roll out before Vista, late Q4 06.

Well I hope that G80 comes sooner than later and not just for the Step-Up sake.:)

Hmmmmm....I wonder when I would have to buy to be in the 90 day stepup.

I really wish that we could always tust the Inquirer, but perhaps they are right:p :

It all makes sense now. The G80 is taped out. The first silicon is back and the company is about to get it in production. The announcement is imminent and the new chip has every chance of outperforming ATIís upcoming R580+ based Radeon X1950 XTX.

G80 is also expected to use GDDR 4 - but we have been surprised before. We donít know how G80 performs versus R600 but we know it is set to arrive a few months before the ATI's expected R600 killer.

They've been pretty good lately, they were correct on the 7950 launch date, Quad Drivers date, and 1950xtx date.

With or without step-up the EVGA 7950 GX2 rocks. You won't be sorry. If you have good airflow in your case you will likely be able to run 571|775 or better. As always though, YMMV.

I have one XFX 7950 GX2 520M Extreme card but, Quad SLI would be nice and I have learned that I really prefer EVGA much better. Decisions..decisions.:D

man i just got an evga 7900GT 256mb and played the tomb raider demo with next gen. it gets kinda chunky at times just because it feels like it's swapping textures or something (i run at 1680x1050).

would a 512mb card alleviate that??

Yea a 512MB card helps...

Honostly, that game just runs terrible. It ran terrible on my dual 7900GTX's, and it runs terrible on tmy 7950's. I think with high resolutions its throwing the fill rate through the roof in next gen mode, 1280x1024 should run much better.

I'm not sure if it would help that much to be honest. I think the main problem is that the engine sucks with the next gen content turned on. I don't think that it is the 512/256 problem that some seem to suggest.

That being said, I still want a 512mb 7900GT! anyone want a 256 :P
