When i updated my forceware driver from 84.xx to 91.31 and check the temp i saw idle core temp dropped from 65oC(84.xx) to 45oC(91.31). I dont believe mere driver update would slash the temp by so much. So i guess either one was reading the wrong temp and people keep telling me 45oC is more right.

The 91.31 forceware was from the nvidia website and the old 84.xx was bundled with my leadtek 7600gt. Have anyone seen similar behavior with the new driver or just any driver version?

Get a seperate monitoring program like Everest to make sure.

I'd really grab the 91.33's or the modded 45's. The 91.31's are pretty widely known to be kaka;)

Lots of good bets here, I'd recommend uninstall the 31's, run drivercleaner, then go with the 85.96's or the 91.33's or 45's(with modded inf on 45's)
Good luck.
