Newegg. I thought it was a 939 cpu but it is am2.Also they sent me a 4600+ instead of the 4400. I was thinking of selling it or buying a mobo and some ram. not sure what to do. Any input would be appreciated.:D

I would sell the chip and upgrade to Core Duo..there is zero benefit in purchasing the AM2 if your a owner if the 939 series..why?

New RAM. New Motherboard and the Chip..if i had a choice..i would sell that am2 for a cheap price..(did get it free afterall) and if u can get it sold then buy the intel side..simply not worth buying a brand new rig from amd side if u plan to go am2.

I'm so sick of people telling anyone to upgrade to C2D. It's not as great as it seems, especially for owners of dual core 939 Athlons...

Really you would think they are on Intel's payroll or something. To the OP if you already have a 939 board then I would sell it off and see if you can get a nice 939 X2 with the money you get from it.

Erm..dont go anal on me..i was suggesting him a better option of going instead of upgrading to AM2. The question was weather to upgrade to AM2 or go Core 2 Duo..if you really think the AM2 is really worth it over core 2 duo then go for it..but i rather have something new that will have better perfermance for my money and last awhile...but hey..if you like to upgrade to AM2 then go for it..not my money...

id probably sell the AM2 and stay with 939 for a while. hoard the cash.

seems AM2 is going to be around for a while (according to rumors). so in truth, it might not be such a bad upgrade idea.

and dont call me an AMD fanboy, cause im not. i fully understand that conroe wipes the floor with AMD. but its next gen vs previous gen., so that should be expected.

Nowhere in his question did he mention core duo you did that so there was no choice ever to be made.

Personally I generally prefer AMD over intel, but as of this moment right now (it will no doubt change in the future since intel obviously favors marketing over substance) conroe has AMD beat in every area, including price v performance.

Well seeing as how there are a billion threads on this site with people jizzing over Conroe, I think he knows about it.
