/proc/driver/nvidia - empty files

hi!

i've just installed the linux nVidia driver for my Riva TNT 2 M64.
the installation process was successfull, everything seems to be o.k.

by installing and executing YanC i got a message, there cannot be found any informations about my card in /proc.

that's fact; /proc/driver/nvidia contains 2 directories. each of them contains an empty file.

any ideas ...?

What are the names of these directories? And what are the names of the files?

Which kernel are you running? Which driver version? And finally, which distro and version?

OK, but the size of zero that's reported to ls by the kernel is only because /proc doesn't actually exist other than in memory. Try catting some (actually, all) of those files to see what's in them.

but when i run «yanc», an error appears (see attachment).

Well, I don't have a clue what YanC is trying to do when it gives you that error message, so, yeah.

Although, I do see that you don't have a "status" or a "card" file in the agp directory, and looking through the source for 4191, in nv.c, those two files are only created when some device on the PCI bus is advertising that it's an AGP device. Are you sure you have an AGP card installed? Are you sure your bus is working correctly? Anything in dmesg or /var/log/messages that might be relevant?

Can you run the driver anyway? (i.e. have you tried it without YanC?)

This is a known issue in YanC and will be fixed in the next release.

It is NOT a bug in the nVidia driver or something else on your system.

The problem is that /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status doesn't exist on systems that have a PCI card in it. YanC tries to access this file and finds nothing, so that error message comes up.

If you can't await the next release I can send you a fixed executable for YanC 0.2.0.
