Many of the original Xbox games where made to support 16:9 and 480p and a few even 720p.
So I have my 26" HDTV LCD monitor I use for my PC and thought why not get the Xbox1 componit cables and play my Xbox games in those resolutions. Well now that I have it all connected and set up how the heck do I turn on the 480p or 720p res option? Mainly I am looking at DOA2 Ulimate and DOA3.

Any ideas?

You have to go to the dashboard of the xbox and turn on it on. You might also have to update the dashboard aswell...

I went to the dashboard and it asked what kind of TV I had and I said widescreen. Then it asked if it supported 480p, 720p and 1080i. I said yes yes and no.
So what do I set up in the game to get the 480p to work? The games still all look just like they did when the dash was set to 480i and a standard 4:3crt.

Do you have to be a live cust to get the dashboard update? I connected to live and it did some kind of update, it did not tell me what it was doing.

Well I give up on this :( I guess I will try again next month after my Bday on the 22nd.
Cause then I will have more money to try more kinds of AV packs. I would have thought the official Xbox pack would have been the way to go. Or maybe the pack I got was not the correct pack. I got it used from GameStop so it might have been labled wrong.

after changing those settings, game should pick the highest res it supports automatically

If you got the correct pack you should be running YPbPr. There should be a green, blue, and red cable followed by a red/white for right channel/left channel audio.

I'm guessing you've configured the mexbox for 16:9 with 480p/720p/1080i correct?

Does your TV tell you the current mode? My plasma will tell me when it switches to 480p/720p/1080i.

AFAIK, the dash is still 480i, it's only when you load a game does it go 480p or 720p.

Keep in mind that you can toggle the dashboard to 480p if you press both triggers and both thumb sticks down at the same time. This feature was included with a dashboard update with the original Xbox.
