Plain jane eVGA 7900GT CO and eVGA 7900GT KO. Is the only difference the fan/heatsink assembly design? New KO doesn't necessarily mean better than old CO. It's going into an ugly standard beige tower, so I don't care for looks. I have to choose one or the other.

Heatsink is the only difference :)

Go with the KO, a copper heatsink will cool it down waaaay more.

I'd put a Zalman VF900 on it either way.

I've actually heard that Evga's Warranty Covers after market coolers. I haven't been able to find that in writing though.

as long as you can put the stock cooler back on, i doubt any company will investigate the cooling solution too much, i saved the thermal tape even from my memory sink on my 6800 GT, so it should be returnable... lol, and yes, heatsink is the only difference between the two

That's why you keep the stock cooler and put it back on before you ship it back. Duh! :D

I don't think they do, but one of the major companies does, but I don't think it's eVGA. Ask jAkUp, he'll know.

On another note, the EVGA 7900gt KO 512 meg comes at a stock Vcore of 1.45v. You don't need to do a Vmod to get to 7900gtx speeds. ;)

Thanks guys. KO it is. Any recommendation on CPU/motherboard combo for this? Looking for mid-range slightly CPU limiting solution.

Woops forgot to mention that I'm recycling 2x 1 gb PC3200 DDR ram.

Ypu can put a different cooler on evga cards and not void the warranty just make sure to keep your old cooler incase you need to do a RMA ,and I would get the 7900GT KO with 512mb of ram it just a few dollars more and is clocked higher and as was said it come overvolted to 1.45v so they overclock good.
