sure who wouldnt want that kind of power if you got the cash to spend. but when dx10 cards start coming out along with vista and all that, your quad sli is gonna be quad obsolete, and youll be kicking yourself in the rear. i got a 7800 gt and im waiting til dx10 cards start to hit the market. please, thoughts agree or disagree.(nana2) (nana2) (nana2) (nana2)

people who buy 2 should have plenty of money to buy 2xG80 or 2xR600 based cards as well

if not they need to re-think their purchasing habits

If you plan on going G80 and spending lots of money I say go EVGA cards and then just step-up. I have my suspicions G80 will be out sooner than most people think. In that regard you would fall under the 90 day step-up. I will never feel bad about spending money on video cards. But hey thats just me.:D

naturally you get what you buy, and im certainly not saying that 7950 or 7900 gtx are not worth it but it would be wise to wait this time around just because dx10 will be crazy. who wouldnt want to enjoy the full potential of a dx10 game. for example in CoD2, DX7 and DX9. my 7800 gt and Athlon 64 3500+ @2.4Ghz can run in DX9 mode but i dont get screaming FPS. now that i rethink it, first gen dx10 cards wont be screaming fps in dx10 games anyways. ah i hate the graphics technology void.

DX10 cards are scheduled for this year. R600 should be out by the end of the year and G80 around Sept-Nov...
Don't go Quad now.

I agree. I'll probably wait for a second refresh also.

If thats your conclusion then why are you dying to buy 2 7950s ?? :screwy: just keep your 7800GT until the next-gen GPUs come out.

I dunno what the rage over Vista and DX10 is all about...

I want to see GAMES (not an OS) which take advantage of DX10 before actually replacing my Quad-SLI rig.

I doubt we'll see a DX10 specific game title until fall of 07.

You'll get one as soon as January '07. Crysis will have some DX10 content in it.

Some? To my best understanding, Crysis will be all DX10 beauty when it comes out. Everything we've seen of Crysis, except for the in-game vids, has been DX10.

I thought its the other way around .. most of the videos were showing Crysis running on DX9.

EDIT : you already said in-game vids & that what matters the most.

Don't waste your money on quad sli. There are too many bugs right now with drivers. You can spend less money on 2 7900 GT's and have better performance, like me!:D

I keep reading, "wait for DX10, that will sort out the Quad-SLI problems"...I dunno if I can wait much longer, given the G80 is right around the corner.

Does anyone know when the NDA is expires on the G80? I'm dying to read reviews for this card already...

Hate to break it to you Boomstick, but my Quad rig walks all over your 7900GT SLi rig at what Quad was meant to do- 19X12 8X16X and up settings.

I'm not seeing any "bugs" in the drivers either, it seems no different than my 7800GTX SLi rig?

Here's proof of what I say, can you link us to proof of what you say?

As far as DX10 goes, let's see:
We're comparing cards that aren't out, and an OS that isn't out, and a game that isn't out, to stuff that readily available? Uh huh.

Errr, my vaporware beats your vaporware debate anyone?
