It has now been confirmed that the new GC 2006 trailer in the above link is indeed DX10 material. No wonder it looks so stunning (even though it's a ShakyCam™ version). Can't wait for the possible direct feed HD version!

The confirmation is in the new Game Informer Cevat Yerli interview:

GI: The game is heading to the PC this winter, but most likely you’ll be hitting before Windows Vista is released. Are you going to have a DX10 patch for the game after Vista is released?

Yerli: No, it will be integrated. We already have DX10 footage – it was shown at the Microsoft Press Conference. The 360 trailer (shown in the EA booth) that’s DX10 as well. The video is captured from actual DX10 hardware.

Then get yourself 3 Sony Pearl projectors, a pair of scissors, and 200 yards of white cloth...

What, so the x360 can run dx10?

The 360 refers to the "screen" it was being projected on.

:)

That is a trailer for that 360 degrees screen. It was installed at the EA booth in GC 2006.

I love the smoke in the carrier sequence especially how light reflects off the smoke particles. Nice trailer.

I'm dl'ing it now. I'm dreading how this game will run on my dual 7600GTs. Even worse, how it'll run on my mom's rig which has a 5950U! ) I doubt it'd even run on the 5950U. Card would probably just blow up or something. ;)

Yea the 5950 won't be pretty... heh.

At side of this video, the all others are then DX9? Because they are also so impressive, that for a neophyte like me I can't see differences, they all seem the same good quality...

As when I am in game I have not much time to stop and look without risking to receving some bullets or become meal for aliens, I think that DX9 looks superb for me, at least good enough for not wait until Vista and DX10 are available...(additionally I have an AGP system considering upgrade gfx...maybe a 7900 GT AGP now, if it finally appears , and then make a major upgrade Q3 2007 when Storm of War: Battle of Britain appears... :D )

Can anyone point out what's DX10 specific about this? It's hard to tell with the nub on the camera panning all over the place.

The video where the alien screams and the smoke blows, that's about it.

Heh, yeah, I knew about that one, but I'm hoping for the DX10 effects being used for more than the occasional novelty. I was looking for something similar in this vid, but I can't tell with the camera being all over the place.

They are probably not just going to use dx10 simply for new effects, but I'd imagine they'd also want to use it just to add more to a scene (ie; able to add more effects or whatnot since it should be more efficient than dx9). In much the same way that they used SM 3.0 to do the lighting in fewer passes in Far Cry, among other things (compared to 2.0 which was more restrictive).

I clearly remember haven read that they are creating effects with DX10 that isn't possible with DX9, and the changes should clearly be visible/noticable. I can't give you proof since it's some time ago I read it in an interview, but I can assure you that they said that. So whatever DX10 is going to do for programming simplicity and performence for sure, it's also gonna bring new and profound special effects :)

Hence the:

They are probably not just going to use dx10 simply for new effects...

in my response.

Even the areas where it isn't some new dx10 effect being used, it will probably be noticable (as they said) between the two versions if they add more stuff that you won't see if you just have dx9 hardware.

If your read the interview he says they have DX10 hardware and are getting new drivers on a daily basis.
