Think I will try the x64 version this time. Though it'll be a miracle if even half of my hardware has drivers..

Aye..downloading x64 myself now..though i have no hope for it to work since i have a GX2 :/..

On another note..x64 is almost 1GB more than x86 :O

Does this thing expire? Or could someone technically use this on a computer for free and not need to change the OS?

Running it now on my laptop, running great :) Although I don't see any difference between this and the Pre RC.

There are heaps of changes... For example press the windows key + D. Now using your eyes navigate to the lower right part of your desktop. You will notice is says Build 5600.

:D (nana2)

I'm downloading now. Core Duo lappy's are only 32bit right?

Man, I was going to get it, and I still might. I was wondering, what is the difference between the beta and the rc version?

You still need a CD key?

It's alot faster, more stable and include more drivers.

You still need a CD key?

You need a valid Beta 2 key. If you don't have one they will be giving out keys again soon.

Also if you were trying to burn the ISO from Vista and couldn't find a Vista friendly program http://www.imgburn.com/ works great.

beta2 key is what we were told by M$ to use.

Anyone have the MS link to get the key?

this is the page where the info will be once they are ready to give out more keys:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx

If you are not registered but would like to receive Windows Vista RC1, the CPP will open to new participants in the coming weeks. Please check this site periodically for updates.

I did hear (and I am going to try tonight) that RC1 will work for 2 weeks with no key. So I am hoping thats long enough to obtain a key.

update: just saw this from APC Mag:

A small hitch has cropped up in Microsoft’s beta-testing program for Vista: the software giant has temporarily run out of product keys for testers.

The following update was posted on the password-protected Microsoft Connect website, where Microsoft communicates with its core group of beta testers.

9-5-06 - We are currently out of additional keys for package “5342 and Up Ultimate”. We will have more keys available for download within 72 hours. Please do NOT send mail to MCHelp or LHBeta regarding this issue.”
