DX10, nVidia/Ati hardware...Pfft.
I just hope I get more than "5fps with Quad-SLI" that others are reporting...
Then again, 5fps is probably just a rumor... wow, imagine that.
Even if that is true, just wait for better Quad drivers and you are fine!
What is your gaming resolution?
S3, IF you just HAVE to run dx10 games @ 5 fps... :p
5FPS would be better then the 1fps you would get with softeare rasterizers.
Can't be 2 g80's, the footage didnt even look like it was running at 60+ fps; If it is then the g80 sucks.

what ever....you have zero knowledge of the what the game engine is capable of ding at and what res that game was playing and that is the best you can say, wow, grow a brain.
DX10 would mean Vista..which is suppose to improve games overall anyway..
But lets not fight about it here..there is no point because none of us can say 100% that it is infact DX10 Hardware. Time will tell and will all see how well this will help in the end..
I for one aint even gonna touch early dx10 hardware -.-;; after the 7900 crappy series of crapped out cards i aint gonna touch another expensive card for awhile..i might give ati a go this time..they seem to have better min fps in games like TRL/Oblivion and i think Crysis kinda seems to fit into this area..

lmao
there has been beta dx10 hardware out to developers for at least two months now....

it seems that that card was a rumor and its actually a DX9 part. i read it on some other forum after i posted in these forums about it.

Wasnt that fake tho?
Think I read somewhere that it later turned out to be a Chrome27 with a HDCP connection.
EDIT
damnit hehe, beaten to it..
Boo. I have no more money left to buy the g80 when it comes out. I will have to start saving up again. Boo.

It's not like they're making this engine/game so it's only playable to the people with quad G80s.. it still has to look and run well on single GPU (be it DX10 or not) and legacy hardware. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot if it didn't.
It probably won't be any worse then the release of Far Cry which also made a huge jump in the graphics department. I remember that running, AND looking great on my 9700 Pro.
that definitely didnt look rendered in real time. :(

The framerate wasn't that great tho!
That demo uses 4-5 machines to generate the projected image which is blended together.
I would of been loads more impressed if all the machines were gen-locked at 60hz!
BTW, It blatently is in real-time. Otherwise they would of surely rendered it at a good framerate and sync'd the machines.
Wouldn't be with 2 G80's that for sure drivers will be early and it is VERY unlikly to have SLi support yet.
Couldnt this be running on a low end dx10 part at around 1 fps, recorded and then sped up so it resembles playable? They just want to show off what dx10 can do and with Intel having low end onboard dx10 gpu's coming very soon why couldnt it be one of them, recorded and sped up?
Yea, I really do not think this is running in real time.

From current rumours G80 should be about 3 times as fast as the 7900GTX in DX9. If that does prove to be true, then it would have no problem at all running Crysis in DX9 with rather high IQ settings, high resolution, and high AA/AF.
Problem is, G80 just came back to nVidia from the fab. Supposedly it wont be ready till late in the holiday season.

I also hope that the card is fast too in DX10.
Remember what happened with FX series & DX9.

That is also one of my fears. The FX series screamed with any DX8 and OpenGL based game, but sucked big time at any game that made heavy use of the DX9 features.
I'm sure that nVidia learned from their mistake, though. Atleast, I hope that they did.
I don't think Nvidia will make the same mistake again :) Every card since the FX series has been pretty decent in the shader performance, however ATI's cards have always been very good.

I heard Crysis at E3 runs on 2 X1900XTs in Crossfire mode. Of corse, its from some guy i met at youtube so i dont know where he got that info from. But will DX9 hardware give you that DX10-like look in Crysis?
It might be the same old "DX10 emulation" we've seen before.
But if it's the real deal I bet it's the R600, ATI and Crytek share the same bed. :p
There is no such thing as DX10 emulation. Unless you want to play games at ~1fpd (thats "frames per day"). There is just D3D10 and non D3D10 hardware. Or shall we say SM4.0... emulation is simply not an option.

Crytek said earlier that up to a certain point they were running all their DX10 stuff in emulation mode, because the hardware was not ready.

i believe its called software rasterizers. they arent playing the "games" there testing that the software works.
