I am running Server2003 and have just installed CCleaner. I ran the analyze function and it came up with 160MB of data to be removed. This seems like quite a lot, and am therefore quite paranoid that some critical OS stuff will get lost when I run the cleaning function. Settings are still at default.

No it's just that it showed that it would remove about 160MB of data. I once ran a anti-spyware a couple of years ago when I still knew very little of computers and the program messed up some dial-up settings. I however remember know that it was a dialer of someone's ISP that I screwed up with that anti-spyware program.
why don't u just look at what the data is? it shows you what will be deleted. most of the time it's hotfix uninstallers when you get a lot of mb.

Have you been checking my post history?
Yes, I've figured it out. I were a bit hasty in my original post and I'm not a computer boffin, but I have figured it out.
