So anyway I've had this 19 inch Samsung crt for about a year and a half since my old nice crt magically stopped working. first thing I do to a crt when I get it is adjust the picture positioning/size. you know centering it and making it take up the full space the monitor allows. well, yesterday for no particular reason I decided to reset the monitor and readjust things. To my surprise at the defaults when I'm running 1280X1024@85 the picture looks way brighter and sharper than before I reset it. Then after playing with the adjustments for a while I figured out that if I extend the picture to to the edges past a certain point (still quite a way from all the way) the brightness goes way down and everything appears blurrier. I understand that things shouln't look quite as sharp when stretching them out but this is more like a sudden ridiculous change and the bad part is I've been using the monitor like that for ages. My question is are all crts like this or is just because this is a fairly cheap one? I don't see why you shouldn't be able to max out the screen size without ruining the picture to that extent. Oh well I'm leaving it like this now it sure is a hell of a lot easier on my eyes.

I get wavey lines in mine when I streach it. I think its common.

I can stretch my Sony picture to the max and there is no change in brightness and the picture remains same sharp.

I have a Samsung 753DF SyncMaster CRT and I can strech it to the max and there is no difference in brightness or quality that I can see.
