I still love the one time I could climb up on my roof and then walk all the way down a nice gentle slope to the street. We were literaly snowed in and had to call someone to dig out out door

we're lucky if we get an inch of snow in 100 years here lol. We call it the desert;) Once it actually snowed for like a minute, but it was just super light stuff, could barely see it coming down, it was more like rain tho, since everything melts so fast. Didn't even leave puddles rofl:D

Whether 12-18 inches of snow is a lot, though how much constitutes a lot really also depends on where one lives. If one routinely gets 3 ft of snow or there abouts, the town probably invested in snow removal equipment.
On the other hand, since I moved down to Albuq, NM if it snows even 2 inches the roads become trecherous to even attempt to drive on. Here in the desert southwest, snow plows, sanders/salters, and snow tires are rather unheard of. It simply doesn't snow enough to make the investment worthwhile for the city.
bah, i am stone's throw from canada. The first time i came over here it snowed more like 2 and a half a feet.
Over here you definitely need a snowblower... else it takes me like 2 hours to clear the drive way every morning. God i miss Melbourne, Australia.... nice 25 C average. Kiler you want to swap locations???:D
Baaah, ~16 inches here

Well my parents retired in Maine. Snow removal equipment was needed there. But down near the equator the city doesn't tend to invest in equipment. Though we're 10,000 ft above sea level (a bit cooler then Arizona would be), between being this far down south, low humidity, and infrequent precipitation, it wouldn't be worth it.
With the same car I owned when living in Maine, and of course I'm the same driver, much less snow is impassable here then there.

Ayuh! :p
If you don't own or have access to a BearCat in Maine, you're going nowhere in the winter, pal! :D ;)
