Here in AU there have been substantial cuts on DDR2 memory, while DDR has gone up :(

I haven't been following DDR2 prices, but DDR prices are going up and up here in the US. The 2x1gig sticks I bought have gone up 33% in the past 6 weeks or so since I ordered mine.

doubtful. The AMD price drop was forced by Intel's Core 2 chips. There is no such factor to effect memory prices. Look for mild drops in DDR2 as they become more mainstream and slow rise in DDR memory as they become obsolete like 100/133 SDRAM.

I think the increases in DDR prices are partly a result of the AMD price cuts ;) Alot of people are upgrading RAM along with their CPUs.

Thanks to Vista, all memory prices are going up regardless of DDR or DDR2. In fact, I think high quality DDR2 ram is going to dry up.

Are the days of using generic DDR on AMD systems over?

It's ridiculous. The Corsair XMS PC3200 stuff I used to have was hovering around $180 for the longest time (for 2GB) and now it's up to $250!

Hehe I just checked the price on my lowly Kingston DDR PC3200 3-3-3-8 ValueRam. I got 2 GB in two 1 gb sticks and they're now up 50% in price as well.
