Likely Cause: iTunes volume is not set at max, and a bug produces static instead of the music.
Working Solution: Pull the volume bar all the way to the right and enjoy your music collection again.
Notes: The volume bar is found under the file menus and to the right of the play and skip/FFW buttons.
