Hi,

I have a P5N32-SLI SE and an Intel Core 2 E6600. I'm running bios 0204 and I was wondering where I can find the option to enable/disable speedstep for the processor (this processor does have this "feature right? where it downclocks the CPU when it's idle?) I tried looking for it, but couldn't really find it. :(

Thanks!

Go to the advanced tab, CPU configuration and you will see the speedstep options. Set to automatic and don't forget to go into your power option settings and change your power scheme to portable/laptop. If you leave the power scheme on presentation or home/office desk, speedstep will not be enabled.

And I also recommed updating your bios to the latest available beta. :)

Thanks for your replies.

I can't seem to find it.

Under Advanced -> CPU Configuration, I see

Max CPUID Value Limit
Execute Disable Function
Enhanced CI Control
Virtualization Technology
CPU Internal Thermal Control

... but no Intel Speedstep. How come? I read my manual and the manual shows a bunch more options listed under CPU Config.

EDIT: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20060920105757468&board_id=1&model=P5N32-SLI+SE+Deluxe&page=1&SLanguage=en-us I'll try updating the BIOS.

UPDATE: Asus Update is showing Bios 0204 with a date of 07/18/2006-11:51:05. Bios 0401 has a date of 09/05/2006-19:51:52 so it is indeed newer (the Asus website has a funny date on this bios at the moment)

UPDATE2: Speedstep is there, thanks!

It is not in the 0204 BIOS revision. It is in the latest (non Beta) revision on the ASUS site. I believe it is 0401. I flashed to it and it is now an option, although I have not enabled it.
