Well I'm getting upset now . First the release date was 9/18, I check out the sites on 9/18 and ship date was pushed back to 9/22. Fine I'll wait until Friday. So here's Friday, I was all pumped up to go pick it up after work. So I just got in and of course all I can think about is getting off work to go do some serious racing so I check out EBgames.com It says Pre-Release Ships:mad: 9/26  :thumbdwn: Same on Gamestop, Compusa dosn't even have it listed but I have hope for Best buy.
Bestbuy says 9/19 and it's avalible for store pickup $19.99. I'm ganna call em as soon as they open. Has anyone got this game yet?

Same thing happened with my brother MaxThreat. We've both been dieing to play this game but the damn date keeps getting pushed around.

And Amazon is a bunch of sneaky bastards. They got rid of their thing that says "will be available on 9\18\06" and now it says its in stock but doesnt ship for 1 to 2 weeks. They dont have the freaking game. :p

I wish we had a BestBuy within 100 miles of here, they probably do have it and its probably cheap as hell.

Looks like we're waiting for our EB preorder for now though. :(

I just got off the phone with BestBuy and they have 7 copies in stock and on the shelf, (I had him double check). Confirmed $19.99 What is EB's problem 9/26 and not in the store, plus they are charging $29.99. Glad I didn't pre-order this. I always try to support the game stores over huge electronics stores but EB and GameStop are going down hill fast and it seems like CompUSA and Microcenter only bother with AAA titles. I'll pick it up in about 5 hours and I'll report back. WooHoo

Dammit dammit dammit! Why cant we have a best buy around here? :(

I wonder how long itd take to get it if we ordered it from their website. EB could still push back the date again...

I can understand your anxiety, guys. It's an amazing game. It's been out in Europe for a few weeks. I've been going through the driving school to learn the braking points in the tracks, because after playing for a couple of hours, I couldn't get within 2 seconds of the best times. I suck royally. This is a much-much improved game, though it's doesn't seem so at first glance. Now, who wants to buy a MOMO racing wheel for 300$, so I can buy the G25? :D

yea for some reason, US publishers are really stuck on using CD's still..

if you want the dvd version, you can order it overseas.

I actually bought the first GTR overseas from sendit.com Shipping to the US was actually only a few USD and actually arrived within a few days of shipping. But BestBuy is right around the corner, and its so cheap, that I'll just take the CD version of GTR 2.

EDIT: Just got my 2nd email from BestBuy saying that my copy is ready to be picked up instore.

Same thing happened with my brother MaxThreat.

MaxThreat is your brother? As in: the guy that just posted below you?

Why am I always the last one to hear about these little nuggets of info?

Huh? I was responding to MaxThreat, saying the same thing happened to my brother.

Why would I be telling MaxThreat that the same thing happened to my brother if he was my brother? :rofl

BTW, welcome back. :)

I have a few questions regarding the retail version.

1. Did they enable track/enviroment shadows? They were disabled in the demo and were one reason why the demo actually looked a little worse than GT Legends.

2. Does the tarmac still have so much grip? In the demo I was able to drive 1:39min (the real pros 1:35 and less) laptimes with the default setup, 2 seconds faster than the RL track record. Many people complained about this lack of realism.

Thanks in advance!

it does subtly feel a bit different than GTR 1.. Its too early for me to say anything else.

Well I picked it up last night. Sure enough 7 copies sitting on the shelf. 3 CD's of which disk 2 would lock up on install and I would have to do a hard reset to close the program, end task didn't work. So I switched to my newer DVD burner and it installed fine. Maybe I need a firmware update for my older DVD drive. So far it does feel different from GTR1, better. It's already got a profile built in for the Logitech G25. I'm very happy about that one, I was hoping to see a profile for the G15 but owell. Working great with the TrackIR.

1. I think so, you take a look, it looks much better than the demo I can say that fursur.
2. I think it feel more realistic then GTL or it's predecessors. On simulation mode with no traction control or antilock breaks it's very realistic IMO and very difficult. After getting the G25 I expect the game to get even more realistic and difficult having to manage the clutch and rev matching. It's got a much more polished feeling than the demo. The sounds of the cars and effects seem to have a much larger range and sound higher quality.
It's running a solid 30fps @ 1600x1200 2xaa 16af- Ga & Mulit transAA. It's hard to hit F11 and not move my head to much to get a good shot.

I've had it for almost a week, and so far I'm liking it. Here's one of the little videos I've made http://files.filefront.com/350Z_Spaavi/;5524338;;/fileinfo.html.

Thanks for the answers and screenshots Maxthreat! Im definitly looking forward to next week (when it will be released here), but hopefully I wont have the same disc problems. The game and the car models are very good. I was checking out RSC earlier today and some of the screenshots there impressed me a lot as well:

This game is really sweet. I can play it at 1920x1200 4xAA/8xAF on my rig. Playing on a 24" widescreen rocks. I also have a Logitech DFP wheel, and I have a G25 on pre-order (will probably be here in 2-4 weeks). I still like LFS more than this, but GTR2 does satisfy my crave for racing a lot.
