What game has the best water?

Fear. Has a pretty neat physics model for fluid effects.

I love the Black Hawk down water, it may be DirectX 8.1 but that water is damn good looking.

FEAR water looks really awesome. That said, I still really love Source, so I voted Source.

EDIT: Post #666. W000T.

When you list Far Cry, are you including Far Cry Instincts: Predator on the Xbox 360, or just the original PC version? Because that game really has spectacular looking water, it's amazing what a little displacement mapping can do (I think it uses displacement mapping, anyway). Otherwise...hmm, I'm not sure. Source's water looks nice, but it has a few limitations, including being COMPLETELY flat. If it actually had some animation to it instead of just being a 2d plain, it would look a lot more impressive.

And uhh...water? In Doom 3? :eek2:

After watching that BioShock video, Im going to say that will be close to the best when it comes out, also Alan Wake looks like it will have some nice looking water.

But out of the current games, Source does have some very nice water.

Yep, Bioshock has the best by far, but for current games I had to vote for Source. I could almost "feel" the water in HL2.

Source for me..it actually made me go..holy ****..

The part where ure in the outdoor area while chased by one of the choppers (i think its called canals) when the chopper came close to the water it had a really good effect with the water actually effected by the wind from the chooper..it was just amazing..hands down source has the best look/use indoor or outdoor..

Fear Water feels..like very strong liquid..like oil..and i dont recall seeing anything outdoor in fear with water..just dark holes..with dark water...

Source in my opinion, Especially in the physics department. Play DoD and kill a trooper in the water and you will see his corpse react properly.

source, nothing has ever resembled the lime green water i got with that engine, all these other games have this true blue bs which isn't water at all, i like my water filled with bacteria and bright green.... <3 bugs

I saw the HD Bioshock clip and i must say it looks amazing indeed. For current yea Source has it best..the bioshock video was also from the console so i think the PC one would look better..but Source engine gets tweaked alot as each episode is comming out..but Source water = simply the best and most real and ineractive with the water.

FarCry! Those vast, open, water-filled scenes really blew me away. A nice touch was the blood in the water effect that you'd see if somebody perished in the water.

Although, all these games' water suck when you've seen a video of the offline RealFlow technology :P
