I've got a b-day coming up and I'd like to upgrade my PC. I was thinking I could just get another 6600 GT(128) and run SLI or I could just get a more powerful card. My question is would it be better to go with an SLI set up with my current card or just got for a new one? If I were to get a new card what would give me the most bang for my buck, I have a budget to keep in mind.

Any opinions would be helpful

Depends on your budget!... you could get a 7900 256MB for just under 200, personally i would get a new card, OR for just over 300 you could get a card like mine with clock speeds of 675/1.75 and 512MB memory when i decide to go SLi my gfx rig will hammer any 7950GX2 into the ground!, look around.... like you said... depends on your budget!

Agreed. Get a better single card for sure. Although, with G80 and Dx10 cards coming out soon (well..we'll see) you could always just save th emoney and wait for one of those.

I'd save the cash for when the DX10 generation of cards come out. a 6600GT isn't bad and can certainly get you through until a G80 or R600 comes out :)

When will those be coming out and about how much would one of these set me back, if you know?

No one is exactly sure on a release date. Everyone is thinking late 4th quarter this year but who knows. It could turn into 1st quarter next year or even 2nd. :o
