Hey I just built my first rig (details below), but anyway I just installed Tweakmasters Forceware 92.91 for my XFX 7950 GX2 and clocked it at 550/700. I installed all the latest bioses for the mobo and gpu but I'm still getting low 3dMark 06 scores of 7882?!?! I would figure that a rig like this would at least push out 9k. I tried contacting xfx help desk but they are just as clueless as me, so I was hoping that someone had this same problem and could offer a solution?

Nope your score is correct. dont go around expecting more than that.
on QuadSLI(stock speeds) & 4800+ i barely reach the 8000 mark.

Only way you are gonna get 9K scores with that 7950GX2 is with a beefed up cpu.

Sorry to sound rude, but there's an online result browser over at www.futuremark.com which lets you compare your score to other's. That way you get a basic idea if your rig is running like it should or not. There are a lot of threads similar to this, and I think using the ORB would solve a lot of problems. http://service.futuremark.com/orb/ ;)

Yep that sounds about right, i get about 77** i can't really remember, i havent run it for a while.
It doesnt get as many 3dmarks as a 7900gt sli setup, but they are synthetic anyway, and its gameplay that matters.
There is more to life than 3Dmark scores.

Thanks for the prompt replies guys...I just looked at http://service.futuremark.com/orb/ for the first time, suprised to see that a non-legit version could look at those results. So yea looks like my score is about right, it's just with all the hype around the 7950 I thought I was gonna be toppin the charts, shaa well. I just got company of hereos and couldn't play it all maxed out...really disappointing, anywaaaay I'm just gonna try clockin my cpu and see what I can get outta my rig. Thanks guys i'll let ya know how the oc'in goes.

PS...7950 = waste of money!

I should have just gotten 2 7900's and SLI'd them. Damn

1 x 7950 GX2 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130023) = $494.99
2 x 7900 GTX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130058) = 2 x $398.99 = ~800 - Quad-SLI Capability

You probably get what you pay.

I got my stuff from newegg.com a month ago:
XFX 7650 GX2 Xtreme = 600
7900 GT = 300 x 2 = 600

I was debating whether to get the 7950gx2 or 2 7900 GTs...unfortunatly I went with the 7950:(

Go read benchmarks, the 7950gx2 does better than two 7900gt cards.

The only thing that beats them (most of the time) is two 7900gtx cards.

Well i guess your e-penis must be small if you only care about 3Dmarks and not real life performance. Why not sell the GX2 if you arent happy with it, i'm sure someone would buy it, and get yourself those 2 GT's and then the person who bought the GX2 would be getting a couple more FPS in games than you, but you'd have higher scores

Company of heroes has issues with SLi cards aswell as crossfire at the moment you NEED the 1.20 patch for better performance.

Well blasphemer since 3dmark scores are a good indication on whether your rig is running well, i think that the scores are a fair indicator of performance. FEAR and COH are both running mediocre and thats why i asked the question...Dill! muhaha

Just for comparison..
I'm using an AMD X2 3800 @ 3.0 Ghz (1.46v) with 2GB of OCZ DDR500 @ 250 1T. EVGA 7950 GX2 @ 600 (core) / 780 (memory) - here is my 3dmark 06 (stock 3dm06 settings) score.

What do you mean by mediocre? What settings are you running FEAR at? And what scores are you getting? 3Dmarks, are a starting point, not the be all and end all.
What resolution are you running games at? Perhaps you would be happier with 2x7900gtx's in sli. There is no other single card that is faster than a GX2 (no "its 2 cards" no it isnt). Only GTX's and maybe X19xx's in crossfire.
I myself get average frame scores of over 60FPS running fear at 1600x1200 with 16AA and 16AF.

When FEAR is maxed out at 1600x1200 my average frame rate is 35...hey also do you know anything about mouse flickering whenever you're playing a game?

Just for the record it has been tested and proven that 3dmark06 is NOT optimized for quad sli. I suspect it isnt fully optimized for 1 7950Gx2. I have done numerous real world test in fear and prey (uncapped) on quads and single 7950s and 7900gtx sli and the performance increase of quad sli is amazing on the software that is optimized to use it.

And now with the DD waterblocks out you can overclock 1 7950 to 600/800 stable! Basically a 7900GTX SLI setup on one card.

I'm running a single EVGA 7950 GX2 at 600/800 stable on air ;)
Cannot wait for the WB though, hope the price drops a bit or I'll hold out for an EK 7950 GX2 block which should be about $40 less.

I had read the 7950 gx2 may not run on many non-SLI mobo's without a BIOS update, but I did not see one for the ASRock 939Dual-Sata2.

You had no issues running a 7950 gx2 on the ASRock 939Dual-Sata2?

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

No issues at all with the Asrock Dual Sata 2. Plugged straight in and was recognised properly by the mobo and installed the drivers and all was fine, runs as it should.
I can personally recommend this mobo/gpu combo.
Hope you buy one and have fun with it.

I am much obliged. That is not blaspheming to my ears.

Hooray for expensive graphics cards on inexpensive mobo's.
