I can't wait for the day when games start coming on DVDs. It's annoying to anticipate a game, only to have your excitement wilted as you trudge through 20 minutes of installation disk swapping madness.

its an accurate representation of the final games graphix and gameplay.

this game flat out rocks so far. drop dead sweet graphix and very cool gameplay.

I havent played a game this cool since Deus X.

Looks beautiful with the real-time lighting and shadows.

However....

Even with my system, I can only average about 25-35 fps in 1024x768 with all the details turned up and 3d sound. No AA, either. Sometimes drips in the teens. Installed the patch and saw no difference in performance.

Still playable, though, but jeez...maybe changing back to a more recent video driver will speed things up...

BTW, I get awesome performance in BF:1942. Unreal2 is sort of a hog as well, but runs better than SC.

I'd be willing to bet a vid card driver update would fix a lot of your performance issues. The 41.09 set seems to work for most every game out there so give those a shot.

The demo came on my latest Maximum PC CD. I installed it last night and played it. The game looks really good, but it feels a little too slow in terms of pace for my liking. I also was getting some weird graphical errors on my Radeon 9500, but nothing that drastically affected gameplay.

I think I'll be passing on this one.

yes well the cover kinda was a dead give away with the whole

STEALTH ACTION REDEFINED beneath the title wasn't it :)

if you want to play the game... you will have to deal with the idea that this game is one of the most realistic stealth games yet... in terms of movement/lighting/weapon dynamics et al... it is definitely NOT a run and shoot em up type of game... :) though you can play some levels like that once you get authorised to do so...

I found greater satisfaction from the stealth than I did running around and shooting in a bug infested unreal II...

I should probably ask epic to consider hiring me to point out all their bugs in ut2k3 and unreal II

paying 50 bucks a pop for POS unfinished eye candy is not my idea of good gaming...

I kinda figured that out after about 10 seconds of playing it. Stealth games just aren't my cup 'o tea. I'll go for run in and shoot 'em up any day of the week. :D

I love the whole punching/grabbing of the people and forcing them to give up info or using their faces on retinal scanners...

plus the night/heat vision modes are pretty kewl :)

climbing/rappeling and what not.. I mean this game is brilliant for me :)

I am on mission 4 and have only killed 3 people so far... and I kinda had to do it :( not coz I wanted to...

I'd agree that it takes some adjustment after the run 'n gun type games. But I like it. Missions seem to be of good length so far, it's very stylish, excellent use of chiaroscuro (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=chiaroscuro) (look it up! :p), decent cutscenes, and fun gameplay. The whole grabbing around the neck to interrogate, retinal scan, or just plain cold **** is just plain cool! A lot of people seem to be having some technical issues with the game, but apart from the sound being too quiet (and degrading, but I think that's an Nforce/driver issue), it's all good for me!

Cheers,
JND

I like the game. Kinda like Hitman or Metal Gear Solid, but with more emphisis on stealth. And the graphics are quite amazing, I don't care what anyone else says, in my eyes shadows are the greatest thing that happened to graphics (textures included!).

Though I have had a few problems with it: the sound effects (while they all play fine) are positioned really wierdly, sometimes things that are to one side will sound like they're on the other side. And I get some annoying graphics glitches, "lensflares" (or whatever those blinding lights are) seem to shine through everything. I've tried both the 30.xx and the 41.xx drivers for my TI4200, so I don't know what the problem could be (updated to version 1.1 too). Oh well, maybe I'll just get the Xbox version, I'd like to play this game on my 5.1 surround sound setup anyway :)

The game is pretty long, I think there's only 9 missions, but probably around 2-3 hours each (though a few are quite a bit shorter). The game gets more fun once you get your "real" gun ;)
Well, I'm happy with the game anyway, now I know why it got console game of the year (2002) from one place!

Are you using FSAA at all? That happens when using FSAA, I thik its more the Unreal engine than the game itself. Ever remember seeing lights through objects in UT? I do, and even then I thought it was strange, and I notice that the Unreal engine still does this, but not to the same extent. Now the light will only be visible through objects for a very short time, where as in UT they were always visible.

Oh...so it's AA that's causing it? I never thought to turn it off, I didn't think it would cause graphic glitches like that. darn, just when I thought I got rid of those jaggies for sure. well, I guess nothing is holding me back from getting the Xbox version now then ^_^
