Haven't seen any posts for this so I'll throw it out. http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/10/03/amd_65nm/
A new roadmap that was presented to European resellers and that was published by German website Planet 3D Now, confirms that AMD intends to make the jump to 65 nm before the end of the year. According to the documents, AMD will be launching its 65 nm Brisbane core in December as the foundation for dual-core processors with more performance in 2007.
Supposed to release a 6000+ clocked at 3.0GHZ.
AMD will launch three new chips in Q4 of this year. The 5400+ (2.8 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache) will surface in November, while the 5600+ (2.8 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache) and 6000+ (3.0 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache) are expected to be introduced in November.
Assuming the second November is a typo. Think they ment December.
Yawn. Just give me k8L now.

Yawn. Just give me k8L now.
That is probably what they are working towards.
I'm curious about K8L though, what innovations are expected to be implemented in K8L to return the A64 on top of the performance throne? DDR3, more efficient memory controller, more efficient pipeline, or am I completely off?

2MB L2 cache? I thought they were shying away from large on-die caches?

the fx series will have the extra cache.

The 5600+ and 6000+ aren't in the FX line.

Meh, AMD has been rather unexciting as of late. Bring on Kentsfield.
Its gonna cost an arm and a leg..and i think the intel core duo might be still have the better value for $ price..
At 65nm we may have some good OC'ing ability, but I don't think that is enough to compete with Conroe :D

I'm going to guess that these are their "test" parts. Since it is the first 65nm that will be mass produced, it will probably help them get decent production when they do get to K8L.
I will say it might make an upgrade to AM2 finally worth it since there will be a processor that should be a decent amount faster than the 939's. Right now there are only 2 procs faster, and even then an OC can get you about the same results.

I bet these chips are going to be amazing overclockers, not like it matters to me, im holding off till next gen :)

Am I reading this article right, are they saying the new 65nm cpu's are actually slower than the current 90nm?

This article features the best review of what will probably be in K8L I've yet seen:

AMD still doesn't have an answer for conroe's sigh. And now with core 2 quads coming, ouch. Sad because i love the pricepoint structure of amd chips.

From whats been running around about K8L, the chip has major tweaks to the arcitecture in almost every way possible. K8L might just take back the crown.
as for Kentsfield, AMD is bringing out 4x4 which is K8L compatible for up to 8 cores. Since it's a dual socket mobo, it has two memory controllers accessing the new HT3.0, however, AMD will need to release lower end dual core and quad cores to be used on 4x4, cuz no one is going to be buying a FX, let alone 2.
Its gonna cost an arm and a leg..and i think the intel core duo might be still have the better value for $ price..
Or the Core 2 Duo :captnkill:
