First up, it was revealed that spare wireless controllers--now officially dubbed Sixaxis controllers in a nod to their motion-sensing capabilities--will go on sale next to the console November 11 at a cost of 5,000 yen (about $42) each. It will also have a 30-hour battery life, according to Sony. A memory card adapter, suitable for reading PlayStation and PlayStation 2 memory cards, will also be released on launch day for 1,500 yen (around $12).

The latest remaning information revolving around the console will be revealed at a press conference Oct 19th in San Francisco.

Sony also has the most horrible remotes from an ergonomics standpoint.

The prices of the peripherals seem competitive. Let's hope it will prompt Microsoft to drop the price on theirs.

Changing the name of the controller is something that had to be done since now it's "shockless" (pun intended :p), although I think it has more to do with the attemp to push the motion sensing technology.

Wow, Im suprised at the pricing... Thats pretty cheap compared to Nintendo's prices. The Memory Card adapter is cheap aswell, I honestly thought they were going to take advantage of it and price it at $40 aswell.

I honestly never cared for the remotes since well I never had problems using the controller... its not like I will be focusing on movie playback with the console.

All Armored Cores were priced higher then most games... its something normal with the franchise...

I can't see Sony charging $59.99 for 1st party titles here in the US while in Japan they basically are at $49.99.

Oh, I didn't know that AC. Never really played any of the games, maybe I'll start with 4 I guess.

I'm really glad they're making PS1/2 memory card adaptors, I was worried that save data wouldn't be transferable to the PS3.

The PS3 remote looks no more like that remote than any other black remote.

Remotes now don't look nearly as "boxy" typically they have round buttons, and just a more rounded design.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, the only thing I am saying is the PS3 remote looks like the style that I remember on my old TV's/VCR's.

Right. And I'm just saying the opposite.

How would you know what jAkUp's old TV\VCR remotes looked like? :p

I have a pile of old remotes from the TVs\VCRs we've had over the years and anything from the past 15 years has a rounded shape and rounded buttons. The one I have from the mid 80s looks very similar to the PS3 remote except its wider.

I actually think it looks cool, but yes, it is a retro look. Why does this have to be an issue? :p

Because the PS3 remote looks like every remote Sony has put out for the last couple of years. They all have the same form factor and look and have the same gray, square Sony logo at the bottom. Why is it that all of a sudden Sony's PS3 remote has a retro look to it?

Who said it was all of a sudden? If their other ones look like that, then they look retro too.

Its a retro look compared to the thousands of other designs used by other companies for the past decade. My brother's sony reciever remote is sort of squarish but its tiny and all silver. This one is black, pretty large, flat and has a lot of really thin rectangular buttons and a few that are real bright colors. I remember seeing remotes that looked almost exactly like that (with the row of bright colored buttons) a long time ago.

Its not a big deal. Really it isnt. In fact, yes youre right, we're just halucinating and this doesnt resemble the identical looking remotes from 1987. :p

I just don't understand why people are first to call it retro when, if anything, they should be saying how much it looks like the PS2 remote (which i've never heard as having a retro look to it).

To be honest, this whole thing isn't a big deal. It just annoys the hell out of me. :p

Those prices seem reasonable. I hope they carry over to the US.
